Edit: Oh yeah I forgot to mention I joined the 'Bike to bike' scheme. You display a sticker on your screen/fairing stating you're a member and it tells other biker/scooterist that it is ok to lock their bike to yours by interlocking chains, so you could end up with multiple bikes chained together.

Out: Steering lock

In: Garage with 4 round style padlocks on door, each padlock has 3 washers on the bars so no one can easily get to it with some bolt crops. Steering lock.

My View: If someone wants it they won't have to go through a lot to get it and I might get it back in one piece and not completely trashed. Or it won't get trashed when some one try's to take it. I have insurance to cover getting a replacment bike.

Steering lock, disk lock, chain through both backwheels, bolt on the inside of the up and over, mortice lock on the garage side door.
I'll wager none of the above will stop the thieving toerags if they really want it though...

Sorry it's not 'bike to bike' it's called 'Lock to Lock' I've seen a few stickers and even had someone lock their bike to my lock a few times in town.

Just bought an 08 Majesty and have been looking at security (and insurance reduction) and came across these people and watched the video with interest. Whilst accepting it has been made to sell a security product, how realistic do we think it is? A number of people have mentioned relying on a steering lock for their security - are they as simple to bypass/break as the video suggests?

I don't see why you'd need a sticker to do this in the first place. It's no inconvenience to the other bike owner, in fact it makes their bike even more secure. Just do it.

I think it's the fact of the thought that someone has been near/touched your bike, I know where you're coming from but some people can be a bit touchy about people going near their steed.

I'm not recommending this because it is illegal but-
Back when I used to inspect bikes I came across one protected by a series of coach bolts loaded in airgun type springs mainly at head height on the entrances and an obstacle that needed to be removed to access the bike. The demonstration I got was pretty impressive and it was claimed it had been triggered in anger just once and the bike was still there afterwards. Previously he had lost several bikes.

Obviously you wouldn't want a child or the emergency services wandering in there though

One thing that has been said before is "If they want the bike they will get it" I used to deliver white goods for Curry's years ago, we delivered to a house one day and the car was in the drive covered in deep scratches on the bonnet, roof and boot, I asked the woman what had happened and she said thieves had dragged her husbands GSXR over it while they were both parked up in the garage.
