There has been a Transalp, CBR600F, CBR250R, CBF600F and a NC700X DCT.
In every case I have been happy to get back on my PCX, I didn't enjoy riding any of them.

So would I and the first thing I would do with it would be ride it straight to the nearest Suzuki shop and do a straight swap for a Burgman 400.

The new CBR600F is a bloody horrible thing to ride, thrashy and noisy and hideous vibration.
Its basically a Hornet with a fairing, not at all like your earlier CBR.
I rode it home, parked it on the drive and didn't ride it again till it was time to go collect my PCX.
A Burgman would be far better suited for my needs.
As for brand quality, the most unreliable bike I have ever owned was a Honda VFR750F, it ate its way through two sets of camshafts and also needed a whole new bottom end.
All before it had even clocked up 10,000 miles.

You were obviously unlucky. The VFR engine is usually bomb proof & is one of very few bikes which will go round the clock without extensive engine work. I agree with ridinhigh apart from weather protection "proper" bikes do everything better in every way in every situation. Don't get me wrong I love maxi scoots & they do what they're designed for admirably but I do really miss the power & lightness of a "proper" bike. My main gripe with scoots is the weight take my nexus for example if it didn't weigh 216kgs it would be awesome but it does so isn't as good as it could be. I can't see any reason whatsoever why scoots weigh what they do & manufacturers need to address it.

It was an early VFR.
The VFR motor only became reliable after they had sorted out various engine component quality problems.
Back then Honda were notorious for rushing stuff out without doing proper testing.
The weight thing is a non issue.
How much can your 216 kg Nexus exceed the speed limit by?
I would suggest that your Nexus is easily fast enough for UK roads.

We had loads of VFR's in with camshafts buggered. Also lots of other models too such as the CBX range. You can see how long ago it was I teched on Honda bikes. But these were mostly all camshaft related issues. Honda used to test some of their products on the public, and also used plasticine to make some of the engines and geaboxes out of. Even now my Honda tech mates tell me Honda's still use up camchains and camchain tensioners at a much faster rate than other makes. This is bikes not scooters. I don't know if scooters are affected.

Ben, you may know but a significant part of any bikes weight is the engine. It can in some instances make up nearly half the weight of the machine, depending what bike you are talking about. It's no surprise that your nexus weighs in at 216kg. My Burgman 400z abs is 225kg's due to the extras it has. The standard model is more in line with your bikes weight. My Vstrom 1000 was 227kg's. But my Burgman feels like an absolute lightweight due to the weight being so low down compared to the Vstrom, which always felt so top heavy loaded or not.

Here is something to think about though. If your Nexus weighed in at much less, it would not be as safe or stable to ride at speed. My Burgman goes to high motorway speeds quite often, but if it weighed significantly less it would wobble and move about uncomfortably on the road at 70mph in strong winds and when I overtake trucks and other vehicles that produce a big turbulent wake. The ride over bumps would be rubbish, it would feel skittish and not as nice to ride. Generally, it couldn't be used at high speed like it is now. I agree there is a point that you don't want the weight to cross but it works both ways. Too light is worse than too heavy in many ways.
Probably not ugly enough for the 'Ugly Bunch'!

my VFR 750 was a 1996 model no problems with camshafts on those ,only very early models, mine never missed a beat in 35 thou,
before i traded it in for the CBR600 which tho a really lovely bike was not as good as VFR750,which was in fact a very hard bike to beat as all rounder.
this morning at petrol station a chap came in with a burgman 400 56 plate i had a chat to him about, and i noticed the seat height
was very low a lot lower than my GTS a bit not sure i like that idea, next time i,ll get him to let me sit on it
