at least you're stuck in between the two... unlike me who keeps on going between the whole spectrum of maxis, and turning into a zombie in the process

Don't you believe it, during periods of over enthusiastic "inspecting the bottom of glasses" I keep chucking a Bonneville into the mix. Now how perverse is that.
Geoff.
P.S. Have you made any sort of sane progress or are you still "jibbering".

Now if you're thinking of a Bonnie you would clearly also have to consider the W800 that our very own Ged has.

Re: B400z abs 7 months on...
I have mentioned on another forum about the Suzuki Burgman heated grip issue. It's not that they are not heating quickly enough, it's because they are installed incorrectly and are not 360° heat elements.
I and others have resolved the heat area by turning the throttle grip anti-clockwise about 140°. Not fully 180° as you need to allow for the cable with the throttle movement.
The grips are not handed but are identical and Suzuki have installed them with the wire entering via the bottom of the grip.
However through experimentation these grips do not have a 360° heating element. The left hand grip heat is deemed ok on the palm but the throttle grip is heating below the finger area. Look at the grip cable entry Suzuki probably have installed these with the cable to the bottom. As stated rotate the throttle grip anti clockwise (unscrew the bar end) so the cable is now entering near the top of the grip area. Do not go too far as the cable needs to have enough free play to allow for the full acceleration movement. It's easier with pictures, but hopefully you can follow the meaning.

I am determined to wait until after my xmas holiday to change, if that's what you mean by sane progressmacamxthe1st wrote:Don't you believe it, during periods of over enthusiastic "inspecting the bottom of glasses" I keep chucking a Bonneville into the mix. Now how perverse is that.

However, on the decision page it's still mayhem. The current leader in the race is 400 burgman but i'd like to go for a ZA model with ABS. The only minus point it may score on would be the performance loss from the current tmax, which is already "just" enough compared to the previous burgman 650 on some occasions (like today when an idiot ford focus tried it on between 30-60 and lost miserably).
It's fun to teach some cagers from time to time, and i would be sad if i can't have the same fun with the burgman 400. A thorough test ride is necessity to clear up that doubt!
The runner up is shared between the burgman 650 exec and tmax mk3 but tmax is unlikely as it's tough to find one within price range (max £4k)
There's also the wildcard which is x10 but i'd not cough up £5k on a brand new one, and it's doubtful that there might be a good used example (not an abused ex-demo) as early as january, also burgman 400's performance question would apply to x10 too. I suppose i could grab a test ride on a brand new one to see it myself.
All in good time, i'll have 3 weeks free in Jan with wife and son being on holiday abroad where i'll have plenty of time to try some of these out and also look for a post-xmas bargain.
Then there's the problem of selling the tmax in the middle of the worst season for biking

Dear Mr Halfabusa. This all sounds horribly familiar. I look forward to meeting you in the institution. Now who's idea was it to tie my jacket arms behind my back. Nurse! Nurse!.

My cables are installed towards the top of the grips as they should be. I get my main warmth under the fingers and partly on the palm on both grips. They don't get as hot as the Vstrom grips did becaue the Vstrom grips were fitted too far off the sweet area if you see what I mean which led to too much heat in the palm area. I like the 400z's better positioned grips. The problem is that it often isn't easy to alter the position of the factory grips once they are fitted. Although it can depend on which grips are being used. The suzi factory ones can often be damaged if you try to move them. The Vstrom factory one's were glued into position and had to be destroyed to move them.
Probably not ugly enough for the 'Ugly Bunch'!
