I think, but am far from sure, that electric pushbikes can only go 15mph. So I wonder if this thing was limited to that, it could use UK cycle lanes. There are some scooter like electric bikes around, but usually rather nasty. But at £2600 or whatever this is, you might as well buy a very good conventional electrically assisted pushbike.

Legally an "electrically assisted pedal cycle" (EAPC) must not be able to do more than 15mph under electrical power.
With a bit of Lance Armstrong's special pixie dust there's no reason they cant do significantly more.

Thanks. So this Yamaha is too scooter like to use on cycle paths, but far too wimpy to be useful on roads. I'm struggling to see the point....there are far better electric scoots out there (pricy mind), or electric pedal cycle might be great for short journeys.

The "German" EC-03 is sold for 2495€ (less EUR than GBP!) and has a top speed of 45kph (30mph) with power mode.
Yamaha advertises 45kph - 20km range or 30kph - 43km. "Motorrad" tested the EC-03 with 47kph (indicated) and 20.1km range.
Weight including battery (easily removable) 56kg. An urban alternative to a bicycle or lightweight mofa/moped.
Unfortunately only 1 seat and no storage. Otherwise I could imagine this scoot for my commute (always carrying a kid to the kindergarten).
