Very annoying...we had hardly any snow during the week, and when its supposed to be turning milder, we got more snow (2-3") last night than at any time this winter! It is very slowly melting. Hopefully it'll melt rather more tonight....I'm desperate to get out on the TMAx!!!!!!

I know this sounds like one of those tales that old men spout.
But back in the forties and some of the fifties there was no gritting.
On my 250 Rudge I used to ride to the Enfield Tech. with my feet down most of the time
as the Trolley buses compacted the ice. Youth = no fear/no sense.

i bet you ant still got the Rudge ,worth a bit today

If I can rejoin the discussion, the thing that annoys/angers me most about riding in snowy/icy conditions is when cars or even lorries drive two or three feet away from your back wheel. Have a spill and you're dead.

these vehicles are expensive but can be used in any role and built to last

A lot of council gritters are multi-purpose using the same chassis for a number of rôles.
