I think mine did once...one of the times it tried to kill me. I thought about overtaking a truck, decided it was a bad idea so backed off, and entirely lost the front for some unexplained reason. By sheer luck managed to get it back under control before being mown down by oncoming traffic. I do think the handling of mine was hindered by the huge topbox taking weight away from the front though.Clive wrote: Only other thing was..the feeling that the front was gonna "tuck under".....never did.

Re: YP250 Maj
I've noticed that Majesty 250's seem to sell for quite a lot from some dealers. I've seen plenty of pre/circa
2000 ones and dealers wanting nearly £2000 for them! Yet privately they can be had for a few hundred quid...
Now I know dealers of course typically cost more, but nearly 4x as much in some cases?!

Re: YP250 Maj
Thanks for all of your comments guys, interesting stuff and now i know why i couldnt find an oil filter on the net
Well i bought one tonight 2000 got taller screen and a small topbox, not seen daylight for a couple of months but fired up, needs a service urgently and was a bit of a pig to ride home, front was all over the place, felt like the front wheel was going to fall off
£10 filled it up and nursed back, something is loose up front cos it vibes on overrun. checked front tyre pressure before locking up and 1.5 bar so 25% down, hope thats the cure. Think i paid a reasonable price for it so hope not too much work required else i will have done my usual trick of buying something and spending so much to get it right i might aswell have bought one sorted at twice the coin
Cant wait to get the spanners on it

I used to be in contact with another owner of an ancient Maj 250 who spent hours working on it. He said that such scooters seemed to find their way to him. Obviously you are a kindred spirit!!!Big Den wrote:. Re: YP250 Maj
I had a Maj 250 and two Leonardos 250s. Didn't get on with the Maj 250 as I found it cramped (i'm 6ft 2) and my legs used to hit the bodywork, not dramatically so, but enough to be annoying. So I much preferred the Leo 250s as they are a very tall scooter and suit taller people more.
YP250 engine is a good lump but is a bit slower on take off compared to the equivalent piaggio offerings. A lighter set of variator weights helps things and improves the bike around town. The YP250 is a bit longer legged and will outstrip a 200 Runner on the motorway, so make for a better motorway bike, but there's not much in it and could even be splitting hairs here.
As motza said they can be vibey and you need to keep an eye on the exhaust bolts which seem to come undone with alarming frequency. Easy scoot to service and you can squeeze the clutch by hand to change the belt without the need to undo the variator! I had to replace the base gasket on one of my Leos as it started leaking. I was told this was quite common on the YP250 by someone but have yet to meet another that actually suffered it? Might be worth checking the engine is nice and dry in case it is an issue, as its an engine out job and head and barrel off to fix.
So for me I'd have another Leo tomorrow as i like them but probably not a Maj as it just wasn't comfy for me.

Re: YP250 Maj
I was tempted to get one after a test ride.... the oil change interval is not the problem as that is a simple 15 minute job but It's also the service book valve checking yearly or every 2500 miles (whichever is sooner) that put me off and after I asked the workshop for the cost..... a minimum 3 hours plus parts due to the rear plastic and under seat pan removal to gain access at £60 plus vat per hour. May be economical but that saving is gone due to the £240 (approx) service charge.Big Den wrote:Thanks guys, thought the PCX125 Honda was short oil changes @ 2500 mls![]()

Re: YP250 Maj
i think the PCX is a great looking scoot, had a test ride and liked it but physically a bit tight for me @ 6 ft and the maintenance i thought they were joking, on a scoot that's sold as a commuter
Some i know have them have a deal with the dealer and the service is capped @ £100 a pop but even at that i would be getting one serviced every month so non starter for me
