I went to the one in thamesmead 3 mins before opening time and by the time it opened there was a queue of 20-25 behind me. I was luckily the first in the queue because i could only find one pair of size 11 boots

The bike stuff disappeared in a few minutes after those behind me raided the place. Looks like there are many people after bargains these days. I remember back in days when i could go to lidl a day after their biking deals started and easily finding what i needed

I had a look in there yesterday and some of the stuff seemed pretty good. The jackets looked good but at £60 I thought they were a bit dear compared to similar quality stuff on ebay, M&P for example sell the same style jackets for £40 or £50 with free postage.

The kevlar jeans were a bargain at £30 but they didn't do them in a 34/34 only 34/32 which would probably be OK but those 2 inches make all the difference. ;)

The lids seemed alright but even though I buy lids based on the Sharp rating rather than price I couldn't put my faith into a no-name lid made in China. :?

The gloves were a bit crap, very thin and £20 where as you can buy better ones on ebay for the same or less money.

The chunky chain and padlock looked good but I already have a big Oxford lock so didn't need one.

Very true... you got to judge each item separately, with ebay/online prices in mind, cause not all of those aldi/lidl stuff is good. I tried jacket/trousers/gloves/boots/balaclava so far from these shops and the only thing i can rate as good value for money are the boots so far. I currently am wearing the same ones as the ones aldi is currently doing, and i bought an extra set to wear next time i need a change when the current ones get old.

This alarm padlock could be a cheap substitute disc lock?

In my local Aldi everything went very quickly. I bought a neck warmer with the chest cover and a Balaclava. Oh and a couple of pairs of socks and some leggings and tops. Tried the neck thing and Balaclava out today and in the very cold weather they were fine. Hope the rest is as good.

Got the larger alarm padlock. Feels a bit cheap but works fine through the disc as a deterrant.

I bought the Kevlar jeans in a 34/32 although I only have 30 leg measurement, they are heavy and look a bit naff but will do fine for me in the better weather. I've been looking at getting some Kevlar jeans for a while but the cost was a bit restrictive. These should do to see if I get on with them.

I have 4 pairs of Aldi gloves which were purchased approximately 3-4 years back. Unfortunately the quality has gone down the last couple of years. They are now thin and really cheap looking which is such a shame as I would have purchased another pair.
