yep i have. on hindsight it may have been the spare key that caused the light to flash and not the usual one i use. I'll have to try again with both keys tonight and see what happens.

A long shot - but check there are no other keys on your key ring that might have a chip in

I'm wondering if the immobiliser aerial has fallen off when you braked hard.

It is intermitent so I wouldnt have thought it could have completely fallen off. Might be a faulty connection

I'll check the keys tonight. There are a few things attached to the keyring that also houses the spare. Is there any visual checks i can do on the immobiliser re the connections? I read on the net that it was behind the dashboard, so unlikely to be a weekday evening job...

Hi halfa, sorry to hear you are having a glitch like this. The blokes are all talking complete sense regarding the possible problems. Just one thing. Would strongly advise you always wait for the instruments to boot up before pressing the starter button. Otherwise there is a chance the bike will stall randomy during warm up at junctions and when coming to a stop. It won't always do it but it makes it more likely it will happen as the ecu loads a random set of ignition/injection parameters that won't give best performance or optimum running conditions for the first few miles of riding. Hope she is fixed quickly.

The electromagical fairies get a headache and give up if you rush them and the defaults might be a long way off what your bike needs

The starter wouldn't have spun and the dash would have said "CHEC"
