Re: Hello
Welcome
The later Burgman 400 is excellent and punches well above its weight. Has a bit more competition these days though.
New or used?

Indeed! When looking for a forum name, funnily enough most haven't bothered to spell that! I am a bit of a Lovecraft fan too of course...JohnR93 wrote:Hi again,
can we just call you Crawling Chaos or Lovecraft, they're easier to pronounce than Nyarlathotep...

Hi and welcome to the Muppets. I agree with StevenM. Go for a Burgman 400. I've had two of them and I think you can't beat them. Have spoken to a couple of Majesty owners and they're good too.

Re: Hello
But..if your a scratcher, the 400 touches down way to easy, where as the 650 has loads more punch and lots more ground clearance
wait till ur Mrs tries the pillion seat, she will never get on the VFR again...talk about armchair comfort, lol

Re: Hello
Thanks for the advice. The Mrs. has unusual taste in pillion accomodation (she likes to have a good view ahead and plenty of space - prefers me in a lower riding position even when I'd prefer to be more upright!) and I do have full hard luggage for the VFR. I'd like a lighter scooter with good mpg hence the interest in 400s. Was even considering a 250 xmax the other day but not sure I'd be happy with such reduced bhp.R1K SU wrote:But..if your a scratcher, the 400 touches down way to easy, where as the 650 has loads more punch and lots more ground clearancewait till ur Mrs tries the pillion seat, she will never get on the VFR again...talk about armchair comfort, lol

Meldrew wrote:The Burgman 650 seat is wide and comfortable for a lady passenger especially if there's a large Givi top box and fitted backrest for them too. The thing is it's a bit too wide, and as women are usually shorter than men they can't get their legs in a comfortable position on the passenger footboards. Mrs M's done a lot of 300 mile days on the Burgmans rear seat and the same on the Silver Wing. She prefers the narrower seat and foot pegs on the Honda for an all day comfortable ride, and I've heard similar accounts from other Silver Wing owners who've had the big Burgman.
That was the only reason my third 650Burger went, Pat had dead leg three times, the last time she fell as she was dissmounting and cracked her head on the curb,,so it went.
Apart from that and the weight of the things
