Spike,
Tell me about the Downtown plse. (PM if you prefer)
That is high on my wants list.
Suppose main question is, how is it on long journeys? What speed do you feel comfortable at for hours on the motorway?
Fully loaded will it hold 80mph comfortably? Does the speed drop off on the long up hill drags?
Off touring Scotland later this year so expecting to do 1500 miles over a couple of weeks.

Long distance touring means you need a Burgman between your legs

One of the guys in the X9 club has an immaculate, 10,000 mile 2010 Burgman exec for sale in London (private seller) for £4500. Silver grey FSH, T&T.

Hi Steve and welcome.
If you want something stylish, comfortable and bags of space especially if you fit the 50lt matching topbox, buy the Piaggio X10. It will happily cruise on the motorway at an indicated 85mph and loves twisty country roads. My partner is a mere 55kg so when she is on the back it makes no significant difference in performance. I am sure the looking and deciding will be as much fun as the riding.
Good luck.

My thinking is towards a s/h Honda sh 300. It's fast and a Honda. Got to go and sit on one to see how it feels.
No way I can afford a X10

Well if buying new there's little in it £4700 v £5200
SH300 for me is a cramped scoot so for many it might not be suitable
