I have been waiting for 3 weeks for a replacement exhaust heat shield for my Piaggio X10 from Bill Smith Motors in Chester. They have had to order several bits and pieces under warranty and none have arrived within 48 hours. 10 days is the norm.

I like the Aprilia SRV and the Mana but I wouldn't buy either not so much because of spares availability but more their reliability and the expense of fixing/maintaining them would make them impractical for everyday all year use.
I wouldn't hesitate to buy another Piaggio though if they actually had something worth upgrading to.
You mostly echo my views, though I haven't owned an Aprilia for years, hence my query. As for Piaggio products, I think the Bev 350 Touring is quite an interesting proposition - lots of power but quite light and small so good for commuting, and room for one full face helmet I believe. A bit OTT for my commuting run though.

I just ordered a coupling from Suttons. Its not a stock item so it'll be interesting to see how long it take to get here. As I was writing this I got the following email,
Your order contains a Special Order item which we do not hold in stock. Your order should be dispatched within 10 days although some Japaneses special order parts can take upto 30 days.
Please rest assured we will get your order to you as quickly as possible, but if you don't want to wait please reply to this email asking for the order to be cancelled.
Followed closely by another email saying,
The status of your recent order xxxxxxxxx placed at ajsutton.co.uk, has changed.
You new order staus is: ALLOCATED
Orders can have one of four order states. This allows you to track how your order is progressing. Please note that it may take several hours for your order to show in the recent order list depending on the time of your order.
- Pending: We have received your order and we are checking it to make sure you have the correct parts.
- Allocated: We have processed your order and allocated stock.
- Picked: The warehouse has picked, checked and packed your order.
- Dispatched: Your order has been dispatched and should be with you the following day. (Overseas orders may take longer)
Good comms so far and the only fault I can find is they need a spell checker!

I'll post when it arrives...

I agree. I expect it means allocated to them by Piaggio. So if Piaggios claim for all parts to be delivered within 48 hours is true, and we allow Suttons a few day to process I should get my part early next week...
A muppet waiting for Piaggio yesterday...

I emailed Suttons to see what the expected delivery date is and got the following reply, "This part is not in stock in the UK and has to come from Piaggio Italy . This normally takes approx 21 days from order" Fair play to Suttons for telling me straight and not saying something like, any day now, or its out of our hands etc. So much for Piaggios 48 hour for any part claim!

What makes you thin Sutton's are being honest? My Piaggio Master dealer got me my new parts in 4 days as promised after Fowlers and Suttons told me they were out of stock and would take anything up to a month.

Who's your dealer, maybe Taipan can order from them instead?

Delbasso, in Hitchin. I am wondering if Piaggio are supplying their dealers in preference to 3rd party....it would make sense.
