Wonder how much it would retail for it was put into production?
Electric bikes are getting better but there's a long way to go yet.

Re: BMW C Evolution
Actually that range and charge time are prefect for my 40km commute, where I have garage parking at both ends. Granted it would be crap for touring but that isn't what I have a scooter for.
I realise that I am probably in a minority in the UK but there's a lot of people like me on the continent.

It has now gone from prototype to pre-production, expect leasing rather than normal retail.gn2 wrote:Wonder how much it would retail for it was put into production?

Re: BMW C Evolution
I was on the Launch last year during the Olympics . Each Prototype was about £300000 ! looks like it will be a lease only . Nice though and Faster off the line than the C600 sport !

That was code for " planned release is next year"Bluebottle wrote:It has now gone from prototype to pre-production, expect leasing rather than normal retail.
I remember your comments from the time Robbo, very interesting. I like that it isn't being too watered down from the prototypes.

These are 250W as well - the maker declares that they legally are bicycles - limited to 15mph, no tax helmets etc required. Presumably legal in cycle lanes / cycle routes....though I bet you'd get some funny looks and abuse from the cycling 'fraternity'.

250 watt is ok for them.
The law is different for tandems and tricycles.

ok, so what is the difference between a bycicle and a tandem bycicle , so they can push this through with 50w power and 4 batteries bringing it to over 40kg but below 60kg cheersBluebottle wrote:250 watt is ok for them.

Re: BMW C Evolution
Also in reflection, my son had an electric moped when he turned 14.. it was a 200w motor with 36v supply... it was fun... yet for his age the hill to the shops, he could easily go up it on the scoot, being a slim athletic chap like i was when i was 14
but being 53 and 15 stone, i had to peddle like mad to assist the scoot up the bloody hill, my son was laughing his head off.. i finally got off at the top cos i was spent
so my verdict is.... if you are NOT a teenager, there would be no point what so ever , in buying or thinking about buying a 200w version with weight of less that 40kg or a 250w version with less than 60kg weight as unless you live, or your travel is on FLAT roads then it wont work for you, this is my opinion of course, but guaged on experience in TRYING to ride one
i would go for something like this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2013-NECO-ECO ... 4174adbdcb" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Neco is a Belgian brand which has production facilities & factories worldwide.
this guy been trying to get rid of these 1500w motor versions for over a year, started at £900 then £725 now its £595 i just think the controller being at the side is off putting... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/electric-scoo ... 257f2f8cbc" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
one of these came onto ebay recently, if you could get one for under a grand it would be worth it
http://www.elecscoot.co.uk/details.php?modelRef=%206" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

You are just trying to set me of on another long ramble while everybody has a nap aren't youmichaelphillips wrote:ok, so what is the difference between a bycicle and a tandem bycicle , so they can push this through with 50w power and 4 batteries bringing it to over 40kg but below 60kg cheers
First off, I used to get called in over prosecuting this stuff but I haven't done it in a long while so I might be out of date.
There is no case law to rely on regarding what a tandem is so things get a bit wholly. The fallback position is the EAPC regs and the bicycle construction and use regs which will give you something like - constructed or adapted for the carriage of more than one person.
You can't stick a saddle on your rear rack though unless you make it able to bare the load and safe - no feet dangling in spokes.
In theory you could claim that the European law takes precedence but its a lot of money and pissing about to get to that point.
End of ramble
