have a look at my gilera nexus 250 for sale. my family live in london so im sure i can ride it downsptzamtz wrote:Thanks everyone for the replies. I saw the X9 250cc but it looked quite dated and not in a brilliant condition so I'll give it a pass. As said, I will be using it for in-town commuting, so I'll probably go for a 125. I'm seeing tomorrow a 2007 XEvo 125 with 13k miles on the clock which looks promising.
On a side note, I've seen a 2007 Yamaha Xmax with 16k miles but in the photos it has scratches on the pillion handles and the exhaust which tells me that it has probable been dropped and / or skidded. Thougts?

Its quite easy to get some marks on the side and exhaust, even being dropped at 0 mph is quite sufficient. I've managed to drop the baby Burger once on each side at 0mph and there were a few minor scratches, and the exhaust heat shield got quite a few marks on those and other occasions. The pillion handles can also get marked by chains or locks etc (or even a pillion!). So maybe not a major crash, but check. People seem to ask silly money for Xmaxs though. A dealer near me has a 2010 250 model with 31,000 miles on and wants £3100 for it!!!! Utterly mad! This is the same dealer who told me 6 months ago that my 2008 Tmax with 18K miles was 'high mileage' !sptzamtz wrote:

I'd hold out for a 250, 125s are more likely to have been abused by multiple learners, at least with a 250 you're more likely to find they've been better cared for. And as you've seen the general consensus is the 250 is better all-round especially if you get an Evo not the older SL (though the Honda engined SLs run and run).sptzamtz wrote:Thanks everyone for the replies. Also as fewer people can ride/buy a 250 you'll end up paying no more anyway.
