Most of my riding will be A roads with a 260 mile trip to our Caravan in Scotland 2 or 3 times a year
Anyone have a view as to which is the better suited to long distance/ motorway type riding.
Can you fit a top box to both scoots.
Are the stock screens ok or is the advise to get a taller one.

The Burger is generally thought to be the best tourer.
Mr Givi will supply a topbox for almost anything!!
Screens are incredibly personal - you'll have to buy your scoot and see how the stock screen works for you.

cant speak about the Yamaha but having owned a burgman and a piaggio xevo id take the piaggio every time ... and you will get a much better bike for the same money ,,, jap stuff carries a hefty unjustified premium.

You should be able to find a decent X8 400 or Xevo 400 for under two grand.

Must admit I never considered Piaggio assumed being Italian they would not be as reliable as the Jap scoots

Another option would be a used Kymco Downtown, I've seen them for just over two grand.
Or if you want to get exotic there's a Malaguti Madison 400 been on sale for a while which is well within your budget.

There is a £2,295 2008 400cc SUZUKI AN BURGMAN that's done 12900 miles pretty close to you that you might be able to haggle down to £2,000?

There's also a £2,000 2009 HONDA FJS 600cc "PAMPERED & FULLY SERVICED" by none other than our ZZG but it's done 50,000 miles - though still capable of another 100,000+ if looked after well... http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/ ... ?logcode=p" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The Silverwing is generally a reliable, well made and comfortable touring Scoot but quick research suggests that it does around 10-20 MPG less than the 400 Burgman.

Both these bikes have fab reputations and ideally you gotta test ride both!
