That was an oddity...they couldn't store 2 helmets under the Silverwing seat, when everyone else can, but had no problem with the BMW, despite some other people (eg MCN) being unable to.

Almost certainly. Something like 52 miles per Imperial gallon.

On the Silverwing the underseat space extends back under the bodywork quite a bit. When I put my helmet in there and slide it backwards it half disappears leaving plenty of room for another one in front of it.
Perhaps they put the front one in first which would block getting the back one in.
I like my Silvrwing. I'd take it anyway over the other three. Bog basic transmission and a very reliable and long lasting engine. A bit ponderous in the corners but then so am I
