Forgot to mention another important bonus for me is that it is light and easy to handle out of the garage. The side stand is rubbish being a fly up one but other than that it has nothing I hate.

they are made of metal rather then plastic
they are comfy to ride
lots of scope for tuning modding
and fairly easy to work on as the under tray just lifts out to get to the engine
and they look ace

The chassis although basic works extremely well considering the small wheels. It feels safe and comfortable even for me at 6'3" at all speeds from a crawl to 70 mph. The performance and economy is excellent and the retro look is a bonus for me.
Are you serious or have you lost the plot ?

I think a lot of the popularity in the UK at least is down to it being a known name as well as any advert that has a scooter in shot, always has a vespa. So it's sort of ingrained that a vespa is the default scooter.
But really, for the most part they are no better than anything else in the market.
The Peugeot Django should by rights show the vespa the door, but as it does not have the perceived heritage in the UK, it does not have a chance to make much of a dent.
