Indeed if the bike is serviced by a dealer like any other bike its pretty expensive. Though to be honest the Burgman is so easy to maintain its daft. I tend to purchase bikes that are either just out of warranty or just coming to the end of their warranty and hence I always look for ones that are easy to maintain. The burgman with no chain drive or belt to replace means its just filters, and oil. I haven't even had to replace the plugs yet at almost 50,000 miles, valves haven't been done either, the bike feels just the same it did when I first got it 4 years ago. For me the Burgman, DN-0 and NC700x are great bikes to have if you want to maintain them yourselves, the NC700 probably the easiest and cheapest out there.

I have just read that 35 page long thread on the Sym 600, and it does look a great bike, but as I do 300 miles per week I can't justify buying something that will have to go in the shop that often to keep its warranty going, Piaggio and Honda are pretty good with 8000 mile service intervals, thats do-able. Everyones circumstances are very different. My priorities are, reliability, ease of user maintenance, low maintenance final drive, if it has a belt, then one that most dealers can change, unlike the Mana which needs the Axxone unit attached to it to put it into "learn" mode when it first changed.

To keep the cost down I need to be able to maintain it myself and some scoots need special tools and diagnostic equipment which isn't any good for me. I'm sure the Sym600 would be easy to do myself also, but then I loose the warranty if I maintain it myself.

I have been doing the 400 myself with no problems, and when I needed a warranty repair that was not a problem in fact SYM UK even arranged for the local Piaggio dealer to do it to save me traveling to the SYM dealer 22 miles away.

SYM UK are happy with you doing your services and it still being classed as under warranty? If SYMUK would confirm that then great, of course they might like to see receipts for oil and filters etc but that is easy enough..

I have to say I have been very impressed with the whole SYM UK set up I think they are really trying hard. The dealer I have ordered my new bike from tells me that SYM had told them that they needed to up their game with customer service etc. My 400 needed a new key lock for the seat, the glove box, ignition, and petrol cap were also all replaced so that I would still only need one key and the whole lot were with the Piaggio dealer withing 24 hours, I was well impressed.

I have had a NC700X,Vespa 300 gt,125 burger,3x 400 burgers, 3x 650's a SRV850, majesty 250 , 3 Tmax's of which I currently still have a late reg low miles mk1.
I looked at the 350 piagio and thought it was a great looking tool and well priced, also looked at the 300 forza as I liked the PCX125 but far too small for me.

There are two main types of mega scoot, the sit in and the sit on Tmax / SRV are sit on and burgers / silverwings are sit in, must say of the two I prefer the sit in for comfort and wind protection. (Vespa's et al are another style what I call knee's forward)

I have enjoyed all my scoots and the NC, still don't know why I sold the NC  in fact its popped up back in the supplying dealers via Bolton Aprilia dealer I chopped it into for the SRV :D

I change bikes a lot but am trying to cool it lately and the question I ask myself now is will the new (multi thousand £ additional cost) replacement do the job any better than the existing ? the answer is nearly always no not really :D that's not to say I don't still buy the bugger either
Just bikes for me, oh and the odd car

With the Mana it was an easy choice as it was so unreliable, but with the Burgman its not so clear. Think its just its mileage that made me think about selling whilst its still worth something. I think it must be worth £1500 to £2000. I sold my older MK1 Tmax for £1800 and that was 5 years old with 50,000 miles also.

I take it you enjoyed the NC then ?

I think you've passed the mileage on the Burger where it's worth a lot, which I reckon is 20-25k miles max.

I doubt you'll lose much more trade-in now you're at 50k, even if you went on to 60-70k.

Perhaps, as someone else said, keep the Burger and use it till it fails big time but if funds allow get something else now to excite the juices a bit (NC750X DCT?????)

Yes trade in its not worth much at all, would have to be a private sale. Perhaps it would be best to keep the Burger seeing as its been so reliable..
