DCT would be a good solution for someone with a disability which prevented them from using a conventional clutch and/or gearlever.
Other than that I can't see why anyone would pay the extra for it.

Which is the real reason anyone on the Muppets would buy one, it's the DCT transmission not all that bisexual balancer system bollocks.
It is the DCT which draws me to it, but I'm not at all technical, so the idea of the chain drive and constant lubing is putting me off a bit

Having said that, I'm a fair weather softie, so it wouldn't get exposed to a great deal of crap, unless I get caught out in it
There isn't "constant lubing", a quick spray every couple of weeks, or fit a Tuturo unit and just refill every couple of months.

It really isn't a reason to forego a bike, only sensitivity is the NC700 did have a chain recall and "some people" suggest the standard chain is too weak.

Not sure if NC750 has changed this, think not.

Chain maintenance frequency depends how often, how far and in what conditions you ride.
An oiler helps but it won't check and adjust tension and it won't clean the oily filth off the back of the bike.

I had the 700x (manual). I liked it and enjoyed it but for me riding bikes is about enjoying the thrill of it. It was just a little dull. I spent a few quid turning it into something i wanted but it never quite got me excited. Touring screen, givi engine bars, givi trekker luggage, centre stand, heated grips, USB charger in the 'tank', hugger, fender extender etc. It ended up being a £7500 bike. You can get a lot better bike than that for the same money (especially if you get a used one). The new one is £1k more! I had a quick blast on horobags cb500 last week and that is a much More exciting bike to ride. The engine is a proper bike engine that revs more and just feels like a proper bike and is cheaper.

Btw the nc700 did have a chain recall for a manufacturing issue with some early ones. But the gauge is the same as most of the
Modern 600 sports bikes with 130+ bhp so it's plenty man enough. Fitting a Scott oiler is more expensive on an nc due to there being no vacum pipe to tap
Into. You have to fit the electronic one or just live with spraying chain lube every 300 miles or so. In the time if had mine I adjusted the chain once at about 600 miles and then that was it.

For £7k you could get a lightly used vfr1200 with dct if that's what you need. It would be a bit more exciting I reckon.

GO buy it if it fits the bill, enjoy it for what it is get a good test ride even if that means traveling we all have different reasons for choosing what bike/ scoot is needed for our individual needs so most opinions will not be a deal of help, Personally I think its a good looking bike

I had an NC700X-DCT last year, great bit of kit, after the original chain was replaced under warranty. I found that the chain wasn't an issue with only minimal cleaning and lubricating required. The DCT versions seem to be easier on the chain because of the smoother gear changes.
I got a 750 DCT arriving in March, and can't wait. icon_wink-.gif Wales.gif

I went from NC700X to a new Deauville, it was about £2700 more, but I think it was worth it. Shaft drive and a grunty 'V' twin engine, only 5 gears, who wants a box full of overdrive cogs, a better dash, weather protection, adjustable screen, a centre stand, top box and built-in panniers (two sets of pannier lids), much better finish.
I've not had to do anything to the bike, whereas the NC needed chain maintenance, not that easy without a centre stand, before most rides.
Shame Honda have deleted the Deauville.

I had a Deauville 700 a few years ago, excellent bike, a bit heavy, good weather protection, but a bit vibey on the motorway. If ever a bike needed a 6th gear this was it.
The NC is not perfect, but it' feels light and agile compared to the DV. I had a centrestand on my last NC which I only used for cleaning and chain maintenance. I'm just going to get a good paddock stand for my next one, it's cheaper and doesn't add to the weight of the bike in use. I'll also be fitting a PD oiler to take care of the chain.
