But at least he (SYM UK) is a contact with a major importer. I haven't seen anyone from other importers come in and discuss issues with there machines. As space probe stated he was very helpful helped me make up my mind.

He doesn't come here for our benefit, he comes here to promote his products and good on him for trying.
If the Sym product and dealer network were on a par with (for example) Honda, he wouldn't have to.
Anywho it has been a success for him and has seen you buy a brand new scooter (unseen?) from a dealer forty miles away.
I'm fairly confident it will work out ok for you, but that sort of arrangement just wouldn't suit me.

just how many brands have a dealer network on a par with honda??
but then again being the largest manufacturer of bikes you would expect them to have a fair size network of dealers

2 sales both Mac and I have bought unseen due in a large part to Steve. I think its good that we have a contact on here (and yes of course its in part to promote his company) and we need to be careful we don't drive him away. I cringe at some of the posts he gets on here, he must wonder why he bothers, but I for one am glad he does and have appreciated the help he and his team have given me in the past, its keeping me loyal to the brand.

I bought my first SYM from a main Suzuki Kawasaki and Triumph dealer in Aberdeen and that was an unseen purchase as well. And have had no issues with my current machine. So that helped the decision. And I really like the look of the Joymax.

Absolutely.
People complain that importers don't listen, never give an honest answer, you can't talk to anybody except a salesman, nobody ever asks the punters etc etc.
when some brave soul comes along and does it he gets abused, told his honest and full answers are rubbish, his maths is bad and designers/marketing are idiots, marketing are idiots blah blah.
Instead of pretending to have some special knowledge we should be listening to the guy who has. If he picks up a few sales on the way - good, he deserves it

Back on-topic.

Shame we're so far apart. I'd love to compare the Joymax 300 to my J300. (Latest news is that it has landed in the UK, so I should have it soon. )

That would be good to compare. I have road tested the J300 and really liked it. Just missed the feet forward as really used to riding that way now. But cracking looking machine.

Now I have got my new map book (see review section), following my retirement at the end of April might try to organize some ride outs. I am certainly planning on seeing a lot more of the UK with the 600 so hopefully I shall be bumping into folks from here on my travelers.
