Re: Maxsym 600
Have not seen the 600i max yet. Have ridden the 400i and was very very impressed. Plenty of poke and really good handling and roadholding. Contrary to what Sylar felt, I found the 400i to be a nice bike with a very solid feel. It really is a quality bit of kit I felt, and directly comparable to my 400z abs. Have ridden the X10 350 and again a nice bike with good handling, but not comparable to either the Maxsym 400i or the Burgman 400 in terms of ultimate performance. That's inspite of what Piaggio say about it being aimed at the 400 class. However, it is fairly close in it's performance to the 400's around town and on urban roads, just lacks the real grunt of a 400 at speed and especially with a passenger. But again, nothing more than anyone would expect from a 350 bike. I'm sticking with my Burgman for the time being but the 600i Maxsym is on the shopping list for maybe later this year. Jeez...we are lucky to have such a good choice of bike these days!
Probably not ugly enough for the 'Ugly Bunch'!

Re: Maxsym 600
Space is still here, keeping an eye on you guys
Sadly not getting out very much the NHS as very kindly wiped out half of my red blood cells with the treatment they are giving me (not expected). So i now find myself with no energy what so ever and even pushing the scoot out of the garage wipes me out, waiting to hear if I am going to have a transfusion to perk me up. However i am still getting out into town on it and using it for hospital appointments etc and its going like a dream. I agree with Stylar its a pain not being able to see these bikes before you order them but SYM are not the only people with this issues. I had to buy my kawasaki Vulcan unseen and could not track down X10 demo this side of London. I am surprised you thought it was tinny, I have not read a 400 or 600 review yet which does not talk about how solidly built they are. Some will recall I dropped my 400 which went down with a hefty thump. I broke a mirror but not one panel cracked or broke it all bounced back. I am 6'2" and I find the screen on the tallest setting to give very good protection although I note that Givi do an extra large screen for them. Also do remmer the riders backrest as 3 setting so on the far one I have a huge amount of leg room. The final thing to remember is the value of the 600 its £3k cheaper than the big Burg and £4k cheaper than the BMW. They are of course different beasts but never the less thats a huge price difference. Anybody in the Brighton area is always welcome for a cuppa and to look at the 600 and when I am back on me feet I hope to get around to various parts of the country where is always nice to say hi to other Muppets.

From the information available so far it looks like the Maxsym 600 is a thirsty beast.

Re: Maxsym 600
I have only filled it up once so too early to tell. I have an app that monitors consumption so once I get some results I will let you know. I am not expecting it to be super economical but it's got to be better than my 6 cylinder Audign2 wrote:From the information available so far it looks like the Maxsym 600 is a thirsty beast.

Re: Maxsym 600
I only actually sat on the 400! i didn't ride it, it just seemed that handlebar cover looked metallic and "tinny". I can only compare it to either my Silverwing 600 or my 14yr old Burgman 400. MY Silverwing will cruise all day at 80mph+ i dont normally ride more than 60mph or 50mph if that is the limit on the road, but i never get less than 60+mpg. I feel more convinced than ever that i will go with a new Silverwing especially as SYM are not prepared to offer demo rides, i have ridden the Burgman 650. Although it offers heated grips and seat, and electric mirrors and screen, it doesnt do anything for me.

Re: Maxsym 600
Gave it its first clean today was surprised how well that matt finish cleans up. I also got a Shad top box back rest (£20 off ebay). I don't carry a pillion often but felt it finished it off nicely, what do you think?

Re: Maxsym 600
The engine acting as a pivot would prevent me buying one. The BV350 was bad enough and the Majesty 400 was terrible. Moving to the BMW or TMAX was a revelation, where the engine was not swinging up and down behind you.

the back rest is a must for a passenger, stops the crease from the hinges making it uncomfortable, well done great buy

And I bet moving from the Tmax/BMW, to the Triple and then the Z1000SX is a revelation too... S1000RR, Hayabusa or ZZR1400 next?DougL wrote:The engine acting as a pivot would prevent me buying one.
