I returned the bike to the dealer on Monday and matters were sorted. A new back box was ordered. The salesman I mentioned concerning the rattle from the transmission is also the dealership owner. He has a wealth of experience with Yamaha. Part of the reason we moved to Yamaha were the number of bikers we have met on our travels in Norfolk who swear by this dealership and this family owner in particular. He spoke to me in person about the noisy engine. I am not too mechanically minded but he indicated the clutch bell housing caused the oproblem. He occasionally comes across the problem with new Yams. His new t max demonstrator rattled for the first 100 miles then disappeared. They have had to deal with just one bike in the workshop which didn't bed in.
More miles now on the bike with gentler speed and surprisingly 84 to the gallon on the last 120 mile, to fuel cut off. I particularly like the under engine covering which wasn't the case on the X10. Cleaning was more of an issue on the upper side. More black covers and bits to clean. The wheels are of better quality and finish. The X10 wheels scratched easily and received paint chips. My X max is black and grey . I notice I can't use polish on the matt paintwork panels according to the manuel. Guess they will have to be washed only.
I am 6 foot tall but I can only just put my feet flag on the ground when seated . This could be a problem for those shorter. Can't say I noticed that on the Piaggio.
Taking a break from Yamaha matters, today was a wonderfully warm day in Norfolk and we decided to take the GTV 300 out for a 'blare'.
Did the north norfolk coastal route to Cromer, Sheringham,Blakeney and Wells then the country route back inland stopping for coffee at the North Norfolk historic Railway Station at Weybourne. Such a beautiful and nostalgic place for a stop. Free safe parking and good coffee shop. What a great day. There are truly great quiet biking roads in North Norfolk that if you don't know the area are a great destination for bikers.
No I don't work for the tourist board.
Thanks once again for your kind remarks and helpful tips.
Bugsy.

Only the 500cc engines do. Which is why there are eight pieces in that bag...SkuTorr wrote:They come from the factory with Dr. Pulley Sliders!Data wrote: The X10 is quite fast off the mark though, as are many Piaggio scoots.

The photo in the 350ie technical manual is one with 8 weights in, although nowhere does it appear to say the weight or type.DougL wrote:Only the 500cc engines do. The X10 is said to have Dr Pulleys and the BV350 not, but I have seen no direct evidence for the X10 350 it's true.
