I don't particularly disagree with any of the sentiments expressed by any of the posters above, just that all of them seem a bit expensive and the asking prices are just that and not the prices you pay. Interestingly enough that BMW on autotrader was my old one and never gave me any problems during my ownership, although I wasn't hugely impressed with the build quality.

SkuTorr, you're like a broken record and the sooner you learn to use the upper case properly, the better

Kymco's are very nice, its BMW mix and match do its own thing and ignore Kymco advice thats the problem. Not to mention the £10k purchase price, now that is having a larffgromet wrote:"well some of us my think they are better built bikes than the Kymco sourced BMW"
So whats up with Kymco...

Too true spaceprobe, though Yamaha aren't that far behind BMW in their pricing. If I were to buy another maxi scoot I'd wait for an ex demo TMAX ABS.

Re: Old friend for sale
Its interesting about the Yamaha, you may have seen in another post that Groombridge where I got the SYM from dropped their Yamaha franchise the week before. The sales manager was saying the mark up on all their bikes was poor but was very poor on the T Max so that it was not worth selling them. Given the price on the T Max this is surprising and wonder what the mark up on the BMW is?DougL wrote:Too true spaceprobe, though Yamaha aren't that far behind BMW in their pricing. Same with my local Yamaha dealer here in North Wales a year or so ago, same reason given plus getting harder to convince Yamaha of warranty work needed..no back up and crap mark up and just far too much money for the machines supplied. He used to sell more Yammys than anybody else in the north west and Wales...just goes to show they ( Yamaha ) don't give a sh1t about dealers or customers if they don't push to keep a dealer like that.

Re: Old friend for sale
Here's a thought...
Imagine if the BMW had the same £3999 asking price as the other Scoots in the list. You're in the market for a ~£4k Scoot that you want for commuting.
You do a Google search (http://bit.ly/1h4wcOO" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) and you stumble across Maxi-Muppets...
Even if you're a sensitive soul* and don't like SHOUTING you'd soon realise that - in it's context - it was for EMPHASIS.
Who would you thank for the heads-up?
Would you buy an out-of-warranty Mk1 BMW Scoot - even if it was £3999 - for commuting?
Now imagine you've bought one new - with warranty - and are having a few problems... You do a Google search (http://bit.ly/1h4wcOO" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) and you stumble across Maxi-Muppets...

If you want to be incrementally better: Be competitive. If you want to be exponentially better: Be cooperative.

Re: Old friend for sale
I'm sure Yamaha do care, it seems that they are now incapable of creating a scooter at a competitive price.
The Tmax is a great machine but looking at the plastics quality and the price I'd say Yamaha are seriously struggling against the likes of SYM, Kymco, Piaggio, Honda etc.

Oh I'm well aware of that. The problem is the continual flipping in and out of capitalisation - it makes it hard to read. Normally emphasis is done using italics but yes, I know it's too much like hard work to actually us the bbcode feature for italicisation...anonstarter wrote:Even if you're a sensitive soul* and don't like SHOUTING you'd soon realise that - in it's context - it was for EMPHASIS.
I also know that I am prone to being passive-agressive and sometimes I just can't help myself. What really bothers me is the God-given smugness
Probably not to be perfectly honest.anonstarter wrote: Would you buy an out-of-warranty Mk1 BMW Scoot - even if it was £3999 - for commuting?

How many times do you have to repeat this?
Are you some sort of activist for Sym?
I see you're already on the T-shirt payroll
There'll be Sym Bunga bunga parties next!
