A cover that is flapping in the wind can scratch the vehicle and also keep damp inside.

it will be parked outside in a secure driveway.

So surprisingly NOT under a cover, and open to all of the elements seems to be the best way to go.

I can imagine that road salt is its worst enemy, so regular washing appears on the cards. Thanks for replies.

I think Data's advice about Waxol or ACF50 along with regular washing especially to remove salt is the best.
I think also it's worth covering the seat with a sheet of plastic though as we all know what it's like sitting down on a wet seat. :o
Some people will recall the X9s were fitted with a 'shower-cap' as standard to keep the seat dry.
