Re: What's the better buy....
Well....in the real world a decent mileage doesn't make much difference to any scoot. Though in the weird world of bike dealers, having more than 2000 miles a year means the value plummets! My mk2 Tmax had 30,000 miles on before its untimely demise and it was still as good as new.luandablue wrote:....hypothetically...immaculate but high mileage T-Max or immaculate and low mileage X9 500 Evo of the same age and at similar price?
Whats more important is how well any scoot has been cared for, and how salt encrusted its got during winter use.
So to return to your question, if you are assuming that the TMax is the better scoot (which it is), than at the same price as the X9, it would be a good deal.

Around 2k, a better buy is an almost new Daelim S3 250, Kymco Downtown or Sym GTS.
You might even manage a Maxsym 400 for that kind of money.

Re: What's the better buy....
Something I'd not thought but have recently changed my opinion on, is that on an X9 low mileage is more likely an indication of issues and problems stopping use. So I'd rather look at say 10-15k mileage (subject to age) as this confirms regular (reliable?) use and will also mean (once confirmed) regular oil changes and servicing.MrGrumpy wrote:Well....in the real world a decent mileage doesn't make much difference to any scoot. So low mileage is not always a good thing!

ditto poldark... also always look or ask about the mot certificate as this shows last 4 years mileage (at yearly mot intervals) which will give an indication of use

I agree with those who advocate steering clear of X9s.
I'm a great fan of them but they were superseded years ago and are kept going by ingenuity as much as anything else.
Can't speak for the T-Max.
