Re: Silverwing 600
I've had a 400 & 650 Burgman as well as a Silverwing 600 and I would put it 4th behind my present x10 350 which is my best ride ever. I just did 700 miles in 3 days and apart from a slight prob with the ASR which was solved by pressing the off button, it went like a dream

- There are far too many TLAs to remember them all.

Re: Silverwing 600
I too like the Silverwing. I've ridden a couple and a long time ago serviced one of the early models when I teched in a Honda dealership. The dealership was mostly cars but did bikes too. I did the factory course for several Hondas. It's had several technical updates over the years as some are saying. Nothing about the bike should frighten anyone who knows how to hold a spanner and screwdriver. Long in the tooth is no disadvantage in my book. It's well sorted with few if any faults. I did feel the front brake was not up to stopping the bike as well as my Burgman 400 when I had a passenger on but you adjust to that and it wasn't as if it was a wide difference. Additionally, the fact I ride hard didn't help. The only thing to be aware of is that Honda have announced it is coming to an end of production, according to MCN, and it will affect the value of the bike. That doesn't matter in the slightest if you intend to keep it. Honda has an excellent reputation for supplying parts for bikes that are 40 and 50 years old so no problems there. Even I considered buying one before I got the Burgman. But I kinda liked the Burgman more with it's single cylinder engine (I'm a single cylinder 4 stroke engine freak!!). That's why the Sym 600i is on my radar as my next one.
Probably not ugly enough for the 'Ugly Bunch'!

If i didnt go down the track with Yamaha i would be riding a wing although they have upgraded to the integra not in the same street.Dave Weller wrote:I've never owned one, but they are very good, after 2007 they got better with fuel. Maybe my next scoot.
I still have my cn250 or whatever you may call that ugly duckling but it will never be for sale .
Not while im alive.
Around town simply brilliant.
Wing is still same logic with trailing arm but once you master them you can ride anything.
Thats part of owning a scooter.
Yamaha and honda in my useless opinion set the benchmark which all others follow.
Quality and build outstanding

im still here mate i miss the kingsmeghead wrote:I love my Majesty but I also like a change and have been looking around. The Burgman 650 seems rather pricy and full of technology which is great when its under warranty, less good when not. The T-Max with ABS is rather expensive but looks great to me. The Maxsym 600i seems really decent, well built enough tech with ABS included and well priced. Up to now I've not really considered the Silverwing, don't know why really bu it seems to offer a good compromise on performance and quality versus cost. What are the muppets views on this, has anyone owned a Silverwing and something like the Majesty to compare? Is the fact it's getting long in the tooth a problem or a virtue, insofar as all the problems have been ironed out. I notice it only has one disc at the front but I would imagine it works just fine and the plus is that it's cheaper to maintain and lots easier to clean the wheel, are these type of things worth getting worries about?
shit i had the yp400 sorted
Now im doing it again lol

Got my new Silverwing today. Had to go into darkest Yorkshire though. By God these Yorkshire folk are tight. I think there was about 1 litre of fuel in it, and a crap tax disc costing about 50p.Well, i escaped before the natives got restless, and will be giving it a going over, Here's to the next 40,000mls.

I reckon that if you travel a distance to get a whopping discount on a new machine there's not really any margin for freebies.
You did get a discount....?
