I had a test ride on a Yamaha X-Max 250 Sport yesterday. I enjoyed it but found a just a little cramped and maybe a bit sluggish, but it's certainly a very nicely finished machine. Some nice extras in Sport spec.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the Honda SH300i or the Aprilia sport city cube 300i. The Aprilia is sportier looking than the Honda but quite a bit less powerful but does come with dual front disc brakes but the Honda has 16" wheels. Both scoots are pretty light the Honda 161kgs (dry) the Aprilia is 153kgs (dry). I remembered not being able to keep up with a sport city 300i on my X8 250.

The Xmax engine is very old hat, hasn't been any development for about five years.

i can tell you from personal experience the sport city cube is a cracker i was taken aback by it the 276cc engine is a peach economical and it goes like stink handles well due to its big wheels and costs a hell of a lot less than the honda

the kawazaki is only 10 kg heavier with an extra 100cc to play with

Whilst the SH300 does go like stink, it does look like a pizza delivery scoot (which is of course part of the fun), but maybe wouldn't meet the OP's sporty looking criteria.

Try finding used ones in the part of Scotland where the OP lives.
Almost impossible for the SH and even harder for the Aprilia.
Looking at Bike Trader there are only two cube 300s, one in London and one in Manchester.
The one in Manchester is asking far too much and the one in London is a stolen recovered high mileage p.o.s.
And another one on eBay in Wales, again far too expensive.

What about the Dailim Advance 250. Very reliable motor with 24.6hp (more than the T-max 250) and a nice turn or speed and cruise performance. Brand new for £3,200 so will be able to get some discount off that. Very good reputation too and all the tests I've read are superb with much made about it's great handling etc etc and nice fit and finish. Quality is great and as a maxi scoot you are not scrunched up on it, there's plenty of room. Only fly in the ointment may be how close a dealer may be to you.
