ok i have owned and srv for 2 years and 20k and can honestly say that its great . Yes i have had some issues but parts have been very quick to arrive at the dealers and they have have been spot on when working on the scoot .With regards to maintenance costs i have not found it expensive when it went to the dealer while in the warranty period for minor and major services .There are lots of little differences between the two machines obviously cosmetics and suspension are first at hand .I have never been left stranded because of a fault with the machine . The electrics have been fine . My complaints have been the use of crap fasteners on water pipes and body panels . Initially i appear to have had some old stock gp800 forks in my machine which suffered from a knocking noise and a loss of damping after a short time ,others had the same issue and was related to the early batch of srv`s . I had new forks as did others who complained and mine have been fine since .I had the seals leak on the master cylinders which were also replaced with complete units .Other than that i only had some minor issues which were all fixed . Never fails to start ,always a pleasure to ride wether it be a 10 mins into town or a tour up north ,great two up always keep up with my m8`s on there bikes and track days are a hoot . The main reason i purchased the srv was the amount of leg room and comfort . The srv is not as agile as a t max and does require a little bit more effort if you want to push it, but mine imho handles a lot better than a lot of bikes i have owned over the years . You can pick one up for around 4k on a 12 plate . You will pay more for the later ABS tc model ,but ride one first .
The Gilera would be my choice, its the original and it will become a classic.
Would need another scooter to use for transport though, Italians are just too dodgy for me.
GN2 Italian no most of it is made from chinese parts . There was a special edition gp800 which is already collectable and even now will demand a 5k price tag it did look cool . With my experience of italian machinery i am surprised i got the srv ,but glad i did over the bmw .
You would struggle to find a new bike without chinese made parts in it somewhere.
Still wouldn't buy an Italian vehicle for use as daily transport no matter how much of it is from China.

Ride free,ride safe.
The SRV is the best looking scoot on the market IMO,
I think its frame of mind ,and if you think about it, some people think reliabilty is paramount ( commuters ect), yet with a high class scoot like the SRV/GP a little extra maintainance, slight niggles/faults is what you have to put up with if you want to own the scoot of your dreams. Other Italian manufacturers like Ducati, Bennelli, Bimotta, Moto Marini, MV augusta , all of these make fantastic machines , yet services are very expensive, small faults are common yet owners love them. Ive a friend with a Ducati Diavel, over 12 grand and he has slight gearchange issues, Id be gutted, and it would put me off the bike, he recons its a characteristic of the machine. I think we are both right it just depends how you look at it.
Im not a gynecologist, but I dont mind taking a look.
