A ride in Goa

That looks really good, India is such an interesting place!

Did you feel fairly safe on the road - what was the standard of driving like? Was there a huge amount of diesel fumes or was the air quite breathable?

the driving standards are quite non existant, everyone for themselves, try to ride on the left, bully your way past everyone and keep beeping your horn. Simply expect the unexpected. Its funny how quick you get used to it though. Once out on the open road though its fantastic, the rugged bullet copes with the rugged road conditions really well. It was hitting the top 30s temp wise in the afternoons. India is full of diffrerent smells, from flowers , spice, to diesel, to shite all in one mile

but the scenery is worth the trip, you dont know whats round the next corner. Was it worth it??? 10 hour flight, deli belly, but its always something Id wanted to do. India fascinates me, I really enjoyed it but doubt Id do it again.

Ever thought of one of those organised himalaya bike treks Mark?

My mate did one - turn up, get issued with a bullet and set off on small tracks and through rivers and into the wilderness.

I suppose you have to like the group thing and there is a real danger of getting injured in the middle of nowhere but the scenery looked fantastic, a real adventure.

the only problem with these organised tours is that they cost more, your tied to where your going, and a hotel room/bar is a better sight than a bug ridden tent at the end of a hot day in the saddle. At my age I dont mind rough arseing it in the day, but like a little luxury at night.

Yet they do look a fantastic tour if thats your 'cup of tea'.
