Not all Germans. At the 2011 HGFler bash there were many modified Helixes - some tastefully (I'm still considering a left hand rear brake conversion) and some less so. I suspect that you wouldn't get one without the other and, more importantly IMO, the riders were all friendly - even taking time out to speak to riders of lesser machines Each to their own.
