The 125 would prolly do you, especially if its a steady ride, but stop start and with a passenger most days, and things can get hilly around the coast so the extra from a 250 would be an advantage... maybe worth taking a look at the Sym (Private or Dealer and a haggle!) and could be a good 'toe-in-the-water' for scooter ownership,

I'm also thinking that the appeal of his large capacity geared bike will wain, and manual gear changing will quickly seem like a chore - so he may quickly find he wants something more powerful than a 125cc auto scooter for fun runs further afield

get a feel for size and weight etc...

that burgman certainly looks like a lot of bike for the money...

I've got a 250 Burgman and everyone who trys it loves it. it's not bad two up although the lady wife says it's not as comfy as the 400 or 650.
