recall on burgman 400

Just a thought. That service you are talking about for £300
Valve check...........does that mean they just check the clearances? What then?
Is there an extra charge to adjust them ?

Got my recall letter for my older white burgman today. Luckily the wife's not riding much at the mo so it shouldn't cause too much trouble.

I have no idea where the rectifier is - but Suzi say the job can be completed in an hour....

I'd be worried if the job was said to have taken much less time because it begins to look like a 'Ball Pen job' of just ticking the box for Suzuki. Not that I don't trust dealers - I DON'T AND NEVER WILL.

Finally got around to doing my 400 L1 yesterday - no hassle, took it in to Fowlers in Gloucester, lunch time it was done, along with my yearly service - I would say 3600 mile, but it's only got 5k on the clock lol

It's behind the front cowl, so a bit of a faff

Service was a very reasonable £165 inc VAT, with a new plug as well - didn't really need one yet, but saves me doing it in a short while.

I'm the 3rd owner of my K8 so didn't expect to get anything from Suzuki regarding a recall but last week I got their recall letter regarding rectifier replacement, arrangements made to take the bike in to C.J. Ball at Norwich for the job to be done which even they say will take about an hour while I wait.

After receiving a letter from Suzuki re the Rectifier recall arrangements were made with my local dealer CJ BALL at Norwich for the job to be done... The day arrived (last week) I passed them the bike and it was whisked off to their workshop where owners are not allowed, 1-1/2 hours later the job was said to have been done and I had to sign a satisfaction note before the keys were handed back.

The bike was working fine when taken in, and was fine when given back with no noticeable indications of fiddling so I really don't know it the job was done or not - or just 'ball penned' as done. Ah well! One has to trust dealers sometimes I suppose although in 60 years I never have.

It'll be fine Jim. Mine didn't show any signs of being fiddled with either but I went to the viewing area to watch my bike being worked on. They did the job just fine. The rectifier is under the front left leg shield, level with the front fork yoke. You can see it if you bob down in front of the bike and look under and slightly up. It is a largish metal lump with cooling fins on it. Yours will look shiny and new. They gather corrosion over the years so it's easy to spot a new one.
