Clinton, one more question ... your profile says you're in London. So why take the ferry from Hull ?
I like the Harwich night crossing, despite it being a bit expensive. I got the bikers' discount last summer , which made it more bearable.

OK. That makes sense. I'm in Maidenhead, so also a Southerner. Never been to Hull. That looks like a long crossing.

The removal of the ferry to Hamburg annoyed me. I'd like to use that route.

Hi Clinton,

You've got a Swing....that's OK with me. Had one myself and loved it but upped it for a bit more power in the end.
Like the idea of your Germany tour but not too sure if i can fit it in next year. I'll keep watching this thread and see what happens here at home.
BTW don't get too worried about the criticism, we have all suffered one way or another :o

Cochem is a mecca for bikers in the summer and the whole valley is great for relaxed cruising. If you know Aachen I guess you have stopped off in Monschau, another scenic little town.

That's me in the hi-viz on my last trip with the German Beverly gang.

What's not to like .... well, I do get annoyed when I have to pay 50c to use a public toilet. Even in restaurants or department stores they usually have a scowling lady who wants some coins thrown onto her saucer before you can leave the loo area.

I like their country roads which invariably have no hedges, so you can see a lot more of the countryside. That's a definite plus for me.
