Thanks Mark. I'd be interested to hear how you get on with the shocks.

Hi, what do you regard as good, which year did they improve?
Thanks snail

Hi Jonathan, Hopefully ordering Tuesday and fitting as soon as they come, but will be around 3 weeks as will be coming from Thailand..
Snail in 2007 the version with an exhaust sensor came out. You can see the little wire going in to the sensor etc if one of those.
My 2007 has it and it seems to have very good fuel economy, around 60MPG rural but can get to 65 with a steady hand.
They seem to be less inclined to drink fuel even if you give them a bit of stick than the earlier ones.
I did hear the later silverwings( post 10/11 I thinkish ) they added a bearing to help at the rear, shame I missed a 2012 before I bought mine last year.
Best Mark.

New Silverwing shockers ordered.
If I wasn`t so Arhtritic I could of managed with the std ones with a gel seat cover maybe, but its suggested these will really be good anyway.
TZ362-420TR-01
2 Year guarantee.
YSS and as mentioned coming a long way.
Preload and rebound adjustments, they also do with a good one for £150-200 without the rebound adjustment.
That is at the bottom of the shock handily.

Link so you can see them from an EU source but bought from Brooks suspension in Yorkshire.
Best Mark.

Adjusting the preload might be a challenge though unless that collar is below the plastic. Not that my Hagons are easy but you can at least get the spanner in. Adjustable damping? Mmmmm, envy...

It's reckoned to be 2008 when, I think, an 02 sensor was fitted.
I've had just 70 mpg out of mine; it was on a longish ride at a brisk but leisurely pace.
In truth, I don't worry much about fuel consumption in bike or car since I use both for convenience and pleasure ...... and the pension copes.

On my present Silver wing 600 (bought in 2014) I average 60mpg. On my last Silverwing that was 2007 I averaged the same mpg. I keep to speed limits and avoid motorways(i find it boring going in a straight line on two wheels) on the A and B roads 50/60 mph cruising suits me. I did try an xmax but could not touch the ground with both feet, only 29 inch leg length "Horses for courses" depends what you want from your ride.

Speaking as a pure motorcycle rider and scooter appreciator. You would do better pound for pound with a Sym Maxsym 600. Great handling and performance backed with credible build quality! Arguably better looking and more practical than both your choices

I'm very much in agreement with the above, a new Forza 300 is coming along soon, but I don't want the new features they are fitting to scoots these days. The Silverwing stays with me sharing space with a Deauville and CBF600S (which is a great bargain basement Honda). All bikes are getting old but being Honda's are ageless.

Shameless plugs sound great, my super comfortable Atlantic 500 is hard to beat for pure comfort, but, for riding it isn't going far as it breaks down all the time.
So, I've just bought a Silverwing...
Now maybe I can go touring without having to be recovered home by Britannia Rescue all the time.
