An update, delayed due to Covid caught I fear after a very enjoyable weekend at the Isle Of Wight Scooter Rally.

Having spoken to the dealer a while ago they told me they had just replaced a water pump on an ADV 350 the previous week following another similar issue. They had spoken to Honda who assured them that they hadn’t had many warranty claims for leaking water pump gaskets on this series of ADV. Honda agreed to the replacement.

They have the bike at the moment for the replacement. I will pick it up at the weekend after the dreadful weather here in the East eases.

I will let you know how it goes.

Thanks Data.

Picked the bike up at lunch time and rode the 22 miles home. Looks good so far. I was told that it may weep a little for a couple of hundred miles. Hasn’t yet.

Let’s hope that is the end of this saga……..

Hi,

I have now done 150 odd miles since the water pump replacement and the weep hole is dry. This morning before a ride out I noticed some gunge on the mat below the bike but couldn’t see where it had come from.
Having returned I found green gunge coming from a point next to the cylinder head and dripping down the cylinder head casing.
I sent a couple of photos to the dealer and they will pick the bike up next week. Suggested it wasn’t as serious as it looks…

We will wait and see…..,

Looks serious enough to me! Might be time to reconsider the post from "Riders in the storm".

Just an update.

My dealer delivered the bike back today. I was told that when the water pump needs replacing on this series of engine they drain the coolant from a number of points. One of these is from a bleed point on the side of the cylinder head casing. They have put in a new bleed valve and cleaned it all up, tested it and I hope that is the last of the matter. The bike looks perfect, cleaned up as if steam cleaned. Like a new pin.

When it dries up a it I’ll try it. Lots of wet fog here in the east for days…..
