My view is bikers don't get encouraged onto maxi scooters, it's a decision they take themselves when they get bored or disillusioned with motorcycles and it's an alternative to giving up riding altogether. Other reasons can be they've done all they want to do on bikes, or physical restrictions now limit their choice of ride. All they have to do is choose the size and style of maxi scooter they want as they already have a Full licence.

Yes, I don't disagree Meldrew. But also there are those like me that loved bikes (still do) and ended up on a maxi one day by accident. My dealer had let the spare Bandit 1250 go to another customer in error that day when I took my 1000 Strom in for service. I liked the Burgman 400 that I had to use instead so much, I bought a new one. I did that because it is a superb bike and not like a traditional scooter (no disrespect to trad scooterists or their bikes). It has power, and handling much like a motorcycle yet with the ease of use and friendliness of a scooter. But I had discovered something new. It can be used for anything pretty much. So the more scooters that deliver that sort of performance, ease of use etc, the more motorcyclists and scooterist will buy them for what they actually are in there own right, if you see what I mean. The Sym 600i will no doubt add to that pool of bikes and we will see more people entering the maxi market in my view particularly from the ex-big bike field. It's those big bikers who are looking to see what's out there and they don't want to have that fear that they'll lose performance.
