Re: New Sym??
Will SYM give it a Stainless exhaust? My 2008 GTS 250 2nd exhaust has rotted away and finally split open today ! All my previous SYM's suffered with horrendous exhausts, they rusted over in months and began to crumble after a year.

Re: New Sym??
I have to say that is the weak spot. I can't fault my Max, it's garaged and well looked after but already the exhaust is rusting. Taiwan could do with some feedback on that, I won't be happy if I upgrade to the 600 and that starts to rust so soon.

Drago, Space Probe
Good point, will feedback
Expect emissions vs cost an issue - but on a unit of this value....
Will feedback result
Thanks

Re: New Sym??
I have the same problem as Drago and Spaceprobe. I am on my third joyride, my current one being the 200i Evo I really like the bike apart from the name (why isn't just called the RV as it is in the States and everywhere but the UK it seems).
I can live with the short service intervals compared to other makes but I have only had it a year and with low miles and garaged i have already had to respray the exhaust because of rust build up despite regular cleaning. This is an improvement over the previous two models I have owned but not good. At least on this model it is easier as the system is in two parts.
The factory replacement part is very expensive and when it needs to be replaced it would be great if there was an official Sym stainless steel option available.

Re: New Sym??
Hi All
SYM are at the ealy stages of designing a replacement for the RV- Joyride - about two years to launch date.
On 17th October I received from Taiwan the following:
As you know we are going to have new Joyride
We would like to know what quality problem, or design problem what we can improve, such as FLAT FLOOR, smaller windscreen/visor, smaller inlet of radiator, etc.. ?
I tried our service department, but it seems everything is fine with joyride,
Have you any comments, suggestion on quality, design to new joyride ? please feel free to let us know and improve,
So Guys, if you REALLY wish to be part of the design process, let me know your thoughts!
Thanks

Re: New Sym??
I think most scooter steel exhausts suffer from corrosion. The black paint just isnt enough protection for our salty winters, Ive seen many rusty honda exhausts. A coating of Acf-50 would help, but I think they corrode from the inside out, as they retain moisture. If my mind was set to buy a new SYM, ( whuch I do like many models) , Id have to budget a couple of hundred quid into the cost for a s/steel replacement after a couple of years.
Im not a gynecologist, but I dont mind taking a look.

Stainless steal exhausts are great
Stainless steal fastenings work loose though so need grip washers

I must say those Sym's look nice and a bit like the Yamaha or Burgman.

Re: New Sym??
Yeah I must agree with the exhaust issue. My GTS has just over 5000 miles after one and a half years and I've repainted my exhaust 3 times and it,s needing it done again. For all the cost of adding a stainless exhaust at manufacture would not put the list price up by much and would improve a very good machine even more.
