Re: Maxsym 600
Can we not descend into name calling and personal comments.
There's a tremendous amount of interest in Sym being generated on this forum and lets be honest its to the commercial benefit of Symuk. I for one am very interested in members opinions and views, as the bikes do appear well liked and respected. My friend Steve has a 400 and its excellent.
But - firstly is this something that an open forum should allow - the promotion on the forum of a brand by a forum member with a commercial interest?
Secondly that member should at the very least behave respectfully and not denigrate another member who has, I would hazard a guess more experience than him over many marques, and who makes regular contributions to the forum which are always interesting if sometimes controversial AND independently minded.
Its been questioned as to where are the other brands on the forum? In my humble opinion once a commercial interest is present then independence goes out the window.
There's a Guy on the Burgman Riders USA site who constantly pushes tunnel mats for the Burgman claiming that he's just discovered a great product - its become obvious that he manufactures them. Let people with a commercial interest declare it and maybe pay for some advertising like everybody else has to. If someone wants to promote a road show or whatever they are welcome as its for members benefit but lets always remember the real aim is to sell Bikes.
Anyway can I draw your attention to my review of Muppet Bright the cleaner for all makes of Maxi Scoot, its fantastic, works well removing those persistent Bull Shit marks from both Bodywork and Visor. Its expensive but worth every penny available from Gerard C, Enterprises Ltd. C/O Easy Street.

Re: Maxsym 600
Gerrard you make some vallid points but let's be fair Steve has never pretended not to be SYM UK. Of course one of the reasons he is here is to promote the brand and sell more bikes. However in doing so he helps provides an insight into the industry and as delt with some members concerns and on some occasions has taken quite some stick. I for one wish more companies would engage with us, I get tired of sending off e mails which if your lucky generates an impersonal answer. I personally like the way Steve and SYM UK engage with their customers. It makes it feel personal, increases my loyalty to the brand and played a major part in my recent purchase. The road show idea stemmed from the members here. Steve is running with it, he hopes it will sell more bikes but he is also meeting the needs of the members who were frustrated that they could not get to try Sym scoots. It's a balancing act I guess . PS where do I get some of that Fab cleaner from.

Customer service and confidence in the product support is absolutely essential.spaceprobe wrote:I personally like the way Steve and SYM UK engage with their customers. It makes it feel personal, increases my loyalty to the brand and played a major part in my recent purchase.
Nice to know that if you buy a Sym you are able to communicate directly with the organ grinder rather than the monkey.

...though being a cynic, I suspect there may be very few monkeys and only one organ grinder in the organisation!!!! Still, it is nice to get some input from an importer - it'd be nice if the bigger companies would pay some attention as well.gn2 wrote:Nice to know that if you buy a Sym you are able to communicate directly with the organ grinder rather than the monkey.

Oh my oh my oh my...
I feel somewhat disgusted with Gerard C's comments.... Whilst I respect his point of view could I at least put MY case before the court m'lud.
I have NEVER hidden my allegiance or commercial interests, I have NEVER pushed 'special offers', or buy now deals etc etc I have concealed my direct contact details so no one could call for 'favourable deals', I have maintained the notion that YOU guys 'if' interested should go to an independant dealer - and often pointed Muppets in the direction of the nearest dealer....
I have always given honest appraisals of the machines that I HAVE ridden in a personal manner, i.e. 'what I feel' about the machine
Please be aware that I have direct access to Kawasaki, Yamaha, Suzuki because the company that EMPLOYS me holds official franchises for these brands - therefore I am probably better informed and experienced in riding these machines than most others. We also held the Piaggio franchise until a disagreement with the present incumbent management team!
I could if I so wished enter into dialogue regarding these brands, however I feel this is the remit of the said manufacturer/importer.
I took personal interest in the MM forum after a period of watching from a distance! I joined in because I considered the forum to be 'mature' and balanced, that the criticism was constructive and not merely an extension of the Ann Davis/Esther Rantzen culture of exaggerated consumer rights! I enjoy the 'banter' and I feel that my reactions commercially to the suggestions from forum members benefit my company AND benefit the forum contributor.
Following your comments, I am more than happy to 'bow out' and say my goodbyes - maybe the forum will be a cleaner less 'commercially intent' place?
Ask members to give an opinion, I DO REGULARLY!
SYM UK
aka Steve Oliver, General Manager at MotoGB, employer of more than 130 monkeys!
I also live in Wakefield...... And I am looking for Burgervan riders right now!!!
Have a great weekend guys (and gals)

Steve I think the majority of us value and enjoy your input. You are now part of the MM family so you are not going anywhere.
