Hi Dave? My post was a bit blunt I didn't realise it was you who made the original post I'm very sorry if I've offended you. However the TBs on the master engines have no chip set so there's nothing to code them to the ECU. On the early ones (like mine) they don't even have a TPS or automatic compression release valve so the ECU doesn't actually run much just the dash & injector although I'm sure you know this already.

One thing I noticed today is the bike is under charging. I'll put a digi multi meter on it tonight but whne riding along at 70 mph its only showing 12.9 - 13.1 volts. In town and on idle it goes up to between 13-2 - 13-6. But I never saw the 13.8 -14.4 I'd expect to see? Bike cranks over well enough and the lights seem normal but that is a low charge or is it Nexus Normal!

I'm sure I remember reading about reg/rectifiers from other bikes fitting the Nexus but I think you have to swap the plugs over? Anyoen know off hand which ones do fit? I might see if I can source a cheap 2nd hand one for now.

this could be your yellow warning problem!!! my scoot was running at 13.3 volts and 12.9v on tickover, thought this was normal??? then mine came on for 30 seconds twice, and dash showed 15+ volts , and then i thought i had better change it, bought a piaggio new one for £55 delivered from http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/REGOLATORE-NU ... 53d8c04214" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
came in 6 days, fitted and never looked back, now dash after initial crank to start goes to 14.5 volts on tickover, then when scoot got charge back on idle it will show 14.2v constant, when riding thru any rev range the scoot will be at 14.4 to 14.5 volts... so i suspect this to be the normal.....

i would not buy used, at this price its half the UK price for oem.... yours could just be lighting the yellow light because of this, and is showing its on its way out, dont want what benr has just had and have to buy a battery as well??????

I think once it goes over 15v it trips the EML? Might be prudent to change that then before it starts over charging! Where is the reg/rect on these? I dont recall seeing it when I had the seat bowl out?

I've contacted Scootech to ask how much for a diagnostic scan and then how much to set up the idle/CO etc after i've sorted out whatever the fault is.

Hi, the reg is in front of the radiator, to keep cool, when you look from behind the wheel to the scoop, on the lower bottom middle of the outer cowling, the plastic vent with the vertical stripes, its behind this, and is held in place with two 8mm bolts, i was able to get a small socket extension in here.. the bolts are top and bottom of reg, i got at mine by taking off the footrest assembly, and the upper footrest (careful here, as hidden screws in the top of it) on the throttle side of scoot, undid the screws that hold the front of the cowling scoop in place , then this allowed me to drop the front of the cowling enough to pull out the undone old regulator and enough space to get the other in... one of the connectors should be in place in right footwell (throttle side, where you normally have your feet) The other wire connector will be where the fall sensor is, and you should be able to get to this by removing the throttle side air vent , look to the seat side to see it, it will be held in place on a slider,(below the fuel filler, what warms your toes ) if its never been done these are the normal sitting points, the one in the right footwell on mine was heat shrunk in place....
tips from funkcowie and all, and i did too, are to clean out the crud from inside the belly pan, as this is where the front wheel lower mudguard rear lets all the crud in ther should be two holes at the front of the bellypan and these get blocked, i think they are too high, and put three lower in the pan underside to aid water release, just heated the soldering iron and used that for the holes...
think thats it, i had to do it in the winter so took me 4 hrs as did not know the method exact, but hope this helps

yer forgot to mention needed to take of the throttle side rear footrest (3 bolts) assembly before i could get to the foot plate, the mats have 3 circular rubbers holding them down (just used a small screwdriver to prise them out) and a back one that pushes in to fix.... then its screw time
its a really good price for reg, ebay italy is the best place and cheapest for oem parts, and the ebay sellers are top dealers over there, speedyzone is like our recorded delivery service, any issues with fitting when arrives just say, cheers

Bloody thing broke down on me again tonight. Did exactly what it did in France, just cut out on me as I was in traffic at walking pace and died and wouldn't restart! I noted there was no lights including brake lights and no pump sound. Tried everything disconnecting battery, removed every fuse and swapped round ones etc but still nothing. Finally gave in and called out the breakdown. Walked back to the bike and put my keys in and it started up again. Ho hum.

I reckon that's related to what you mentioned earlier about the voltage.

i would also check the Chassis earth wires to frame, they are grouped together with the starter motor earth one as well, if you remember when you took the bucket out, they are there on the left hand side of scoot (not throttle side) at the top of the frame, as if just under the front of the bucket, i would undo and clean up then redo tight, as if loose nut it could be your problem, no earth there and nothing works again if there is no charge to the battery from reg this will also cause the problem
