Guys
I hope that as grown ups that you see my 'contributions' as a 'two way street' whereby I am looking to assist, inform and solve issues at the same time looking for feedback as to how we may do things better (after taking into consideration limitations!)
I know I visit quite infrequently (workload) and I agree that I am SYM Biased.... even though I distribute other brands... And I know that I am the 'Grinder' and not the monkey - but that is because I care and I want to make sure the message is clear and that no misinformation is broadcast....
On a side note I wish to share the following 'tale' that really made me 'buzz'
We have beaten monthly sales target, we beat last months sales figures, we smashed sales targets on parts sales etc etc etc, yes we have been busy this week!
BUT, a little dealer in the South West called yesterday to ask for assistance with a part - I was in the parts dept and took the call.....
Dealer 'I cannot find a CDI on the parts system for a SYM Mask 50?, Can you help....?'
Me 'A MASK 50.... What year is it?'
Dealer '2001 0r 2002'
Me 'A 50cc scooter that is twelve years old?, what are you expecting? - Let me take a look.......... Yup it is here on page xxx, can I talk you through the system so you may locate it and the part number and price and availability etc?'
Dealer ' Yes please...... HOW MUCH, wow that is cheap! (£17.82 plus vat and delivery) ..... And IN STOCK....
Me 'If you look further down the list you will see that all of the service parts are also in stock, save cost on delivery AND you will do a 'proper job' for the end user.... Now are you impressed that we have ALL those items in stock for such an old 50cc scooter.... Can I ask, is the scooter Blue or Orange?'
Dealer 'It is blue!, How do you know the colours....?'
Me 'Because it was ME that imported them all those years ago!'
THAT IS WHY I LOVE THIS JOB!

Re: Maxsym 600
As a new member here I am enjoying the forum very much with its mix of balance, banter, knowledge, insight etc etc.
We all know that SYMUK are promoting a brand here but we all know the value of contact with an importer regards delaers, sales, aftermarket service etc. So, I think it is an opportunity for both sides. As far as I'm concerned it is a benefit here.
So, hurry up with this road show! Could you tell me Steve where you will start in the SW? I did ask you elsewhere on the forum, I know.

WOW
As I have indicated on other threads
I am most shocked with the superb response to the 'Roadshow' concept, I wish to add that all test rides will be subject to a £20 (or more) charge for a designated charity, ask Gerard - but in the event of no reply then it will be my charity 'Teenage Cancer Trust'.
The cost of me getting the bikes out there is infinately more than that, the cost of fuel and insurance etc is more than that - but my charity need help!

The £20 donation is voluntary, not mandatory.....
But I really would appreciate the minimum donation...

It's a necessary marketing cost, but it's a nice idea to give to charity.SYMUK wrote:The cost of me getting the bikes out there is infinately more than that, the cost of fuel and insurance etc is more than that -
Having just finalised my X10 (after several looks and 2 test rides) for June I think it's fair to say that you missed out on a new Maxsym 300 sale because:
1) I haven't ever been able to find or see one, let alone sit on one or (gasp) try one out.
2) I remain unconvinced by your support while I have two unsolved faults on my (still warrantied) Joyride 200, faults that would be cheaper for SYMUK to get fixed if they allowed me to download an up-to-date technical manual and parts diagrams to I could order spares.
These factors changed me from actively trying to hunt one down to someone avoiding MotoGB, so just in case I'm not unique in this;- solving any of these issues is a very positive step - at this rate you are in danger of increasing sales and growing the business! I'll probably be in the market for another new scooter in 2016 so you have a little while to improve
BTW I read your comment about the show: scooters being ignored and the scrum for the MVs, well that's my point really, a large stand for scooters is a total waste and not required at all. BMW had a huge space for their scooters at the last MCN show, I didn't see a single person ever look at them - and that includes me! (me because of the oversized engines put me off)..
Another advantage of putting a couple of scooters into a dealers stand is that people can actually buy them then and there - converting views to sales is tricky for a manufacturer stand unless you are Honda and have your own places. At the Suzuki stand at MCLive I was very tempted by one of their bikes but coming away with a vague list of dealers who 'may' have one in stock wasn't as successful as the X10 at the dealer who signed me up on the spot.

Re: Maxsym 600
Just a thought but with so much interest in the roadshow idea and given that it was an initiative from the Muppets why don't we think about turning our local roadshows into local Muppet meet /rideout. Could make a day of it, have some fun try some new rides. Most people are going to have to travel a bit to their local roadshow dealer anyway. Something to think aboout
