Fitted a new front tyre to the Silverwing this afternoon. Went with a Bridgestone Hoop this time. The original IRC had done just under 25,000 miles so not too bad I suppose. Could have gone another thousand probably but I had the new one sitting in the garage so it seemed silly not to put it on.
Wrestling with tyre levers and tyres on a hot day wasn't the brightest idea but it all went well. Checked the bearings and brake pads whilst it was apart.
I'll need some new pads soon so must get them ordered - again, I suppose 25,000 isn't to bad for a set of brake pads so can't grumble and they have worn nice and evenly. Might as well order some for the rear brake as well since they've done the same mileage.
I mounted the wheel/new tyre on it's spindle in my 'wheel jig' and span it a few times. It span very freely and stopped in a different place each time so the balance can't be far out. I'll find out when I get it on a main road.
