The Fly is a horribly made unreliable piece of shit, I just wanted to find a new scoot you could buy with the Burgman. :lol:

Presumably you don't have to buy the whole package...you could buy heated grips alone, which, since they will be special BMW heated grips, will cost something like £200! One dreads to think how much a Topbox would cost...

Actually, to be fair to BMW, I always think that Honda take the award for the most outrageous options prices - I've seen prices of over £1000 for a top box and panniers on most of their bikes. And a pair of bigger pannier lids for the Deauville cost £250...

I was quoted £250 for heated grips on my Burgman 400 :shock: I bought some thicker gloves.

I was quoted £250 for heated grips on my Burgman 400 I bought some thicker gloves.
Plus the Suzuki Heated grips are next to useless :(

ten grand hehehe... i don't know who would be crazy enough to pay that for a scooter. If i were to spend ten grand on a vehicle, i probably would buy a range rover or a maserati 3200. I would look less crazy in one of those even though the petrol prices are off the roof these days.

Seems like these motorcycle companies got the meaning of competition in the wrong sense. They are supposed to be competing for better value not for more prices. If tmax is a legend, then don't try copying it's pricing technique, copy the rest, and compete in the price.

I don't care anymore though. I just pity the poor souls that will be paying that sort of money and selling them on for third of that price in a few year's time. Let them take the depreciation hit, let the motorcycle manufacturers keep increasing their prices... I don't care anymore...

While agreeing the price is extortionate, let's not forget that 20% of that is now attributable to VAT. As prices increase the actual value contribution made by the VAT grows extortionately larger. So it's an £8.3K scooter costing ten grand...

Which could make a good, low-mileage example a really good buy. Lose the 20% out the showroom door £10K drops back to £8.3K, then depreciate from there - should be around £7.5K and less. Low demand will probably knock a few hundred off and all of a sudden you're into £7K territory with ABS as standard. Making the TMax look pretty overpriced.

Wait six months, then buy toward the end of the season and I'm betting prices will be in the high-Sixers. Which is better than a TMax unless they sell none of those (which they won't in the UK, but won't be an issue for the rest of scooter-Europe).

True that a big chunk is VAT, but it's the same for all manufacturers.
If Honda can bring the NC700S to the UK market for £5350, why is it another five grand for some plastics and a BMW badge...?
