Probably because you don't see the injuries once they're in the coffin and lowered into the grave.

Like Bluebottle I too have seen the aftermath of face-v-tarmac and I will never wear an open face lid and would advise others to do likewise.

Unless you have seen what tarmac will do to someone's face you are not qualified etc etc.....

Have you ever seen what an articulated lorry can do to a person, no matter what helmet you wear? It personal choice, wear what you want like Meldrew rightly says.

Thats the nature of ANY internet forum. What each person does is in their mind right, and everyone else is wrong or an idiot. I do as I please too, like you have an open face and a flip up. I have a good friend who wont wear flip ups as he thinks they are dangerous..... yet he and his daughter wear open faced helmets

If the entire human race was as boring and safe as some want, wed all stay indoors and never go out.

I remember that, it was an "Ateliers Ruby" helmet.
Perfect attire for the new BMW TGS range.
(Designed in Europe, made in China and far too expensive)

I was silly enough to ride my Lambretta to school without a helmet in the early 70's. Then wore Kangol Colts and various other open face helmets until the mid 80's.
I did have a few crashes but no face scrapes so was lucky really. Always a full face from about 1986.
I did try on an open face at a bike show a few years ago but it didn't feel right. Like wearing a cap.

That's why I'm keeping it quiet about the $120 million I spent yesterday. Being a chocoholic I'm disappointed not to get 10 large container loads of "Munchies cream" that I thought I was buying!

At least Terry did get some answers to his question plus the useful reminder about the importance of the helmet fitting properly....which may be useful to new riders. ;)

no darling, I want chrome, that way the sun will reflect of the helmet and blind every car driver for miles around, so much so, they will probably smash into me,,,,,,but I'll be OK, I'll be wearing my stormtrooper helmet with after market visor to protect my face 8-)
