Masterchop, if I can, I'll pop up there in next week or so and check out the other petrol stations, etc. and report back. The Nexus could do with a run (6000 in 3 years, she needs a run!). Be good to know how many others are going too, I'll check with the NT cafe staff if it's OK for a meet in their car park.

Would be good to know the figures but i guess some people will have to see what their plans are closer to the time. I'm game as long as we can get sat 5 people minimum. More of a social meet really. if you can report back that would be good. I'm happy on offers on where we actually meet.

I have the TMax so the only thing that will stop me from going is the end of the world happening in between now and then or all day rain.

Well a quick run up there yesterday while the sun shone. The staff in the cafe say no problem with bikes/scooters parking, especially while meeting up, the car park at the rear I mentioned before is also theirs, so pay and display if you are not a NT member. The road outside is free from any restrictions, albeit limited in space. So if the NT patrol is about, suggest meet on the road although it will be busy with cars for sure. There were lots of cars there yesterday because the sun was out, walkers, runners, mountain bikers, etc. Anyone planning to meet on the 4th needs to follow the "Devils Punch Bowl" brown signs, the old A3 is now called the A333, signed to Hindhead. Those coming south on the A3 go through the tunnel and take first exit immediately after you emerge, those coming northbound turn off the A3, before you go into tunnel. Simples! You will pass a Total petrol station on the left along the A333 half a mile south from the cafe. They have really messed with the road layout at Hindhead where the old traffic lights were, it is now a double roundabout so watch out for the tourists in their tin cans. Tiggs

To be honest i see myself as the one who is trying to arrange the meeting but i take no command over where we go. id prefer to hand that to a more experienced leader? any offers?

i just wanted to get something moving for the area.

Box Hill is 30 miles / 1 hour ride from there.
though Tesco car park in Guildford is not without a certain charm

Perhaps our options are:

1) Continue down to the South Coast by quieter A roads
2) Track East under London to Box Hill, perhaps via Newlands Corner
3) Meander generally North towards Reading area - not quite sure why!
4) Explore further West, perhaps to Loomies cafe (West Meon)

I'm guessing preferences may depend on where each of us has travelled from and has to travel back to. I'll have done 60+ miles to get to the start point, so although going to the Coast appeals, it'll leave a long old journey home.

Maybe the ride for many might be getting to Hindhead and back, so perhaps we look instead at a circular route ending back at Hindhead?

Hopefully people can see this route, I'm no great planner and someone else better qualified with SatNav may well do a better job, but this gives an idea of option 4.
