i thought the bugman discs were fairly reasonable... ok they are well expensive compared to a car...but in bike terms they are not too bad..
i had to get front brake caliper seals and 2 pad retaining pins for my 750 suzuki when i had it...that was £56... 8 rubber seals and 2 pins... total dick turpinology there... stand and deliver.....
i seriously doubt if i will ever buy another brand new bike.... there are always prime low mileage examples about..and i also chek the owner out as much as the machine.....
dealer warranties are not worth shy.te... i rarely get new air filter for a roadbike... they just do not get dirty enough....

What weve never done - and I mean the `we` as in the maxi scooter user base, is look at what cheap products from the car industry might crossover into the maxi market.
We've had a recent topic about car oils and that's fine, but back in the day I recall the Yamaha FJ owners club having a long list of supposedly `car` parts that were actually identical to the bike cousins, from the same source, manufactured on the same lines, but sold as bike parts at three or four times the price.
And actually, it wouldn't surprise me at all to find that many parts in maxis are actually interchangeable with car parts with substantial savings in operating costs. Particularly now we have a wide choice of microcars where weight and size savings and power demands are common with the requirements for scoots. Fuck it, we might even find that a microcar engine would be the ideal choice for a proper (daily transport, not weekend crotch jockey plaything) bike... the Fiat TwinAir engine is awfully close to being a bike engine

Some people in the USA swear by car tyres on bikes.
It's known over there as "riding on the darkside" and there's loads of YouTube videos about it.
As for the engine and hideously over complex transmission layout of that BMW, wouldn't it make more sense to turn the cylinders so that they were in line fore and aft as per the Sunbeam S7, stick the variator on the end of the crankshaft and have a shaft running back from the clutch to the rear wheel?
It might make it a bit more like a proper BMW...
