Would have made no difference to me Ridinhigh, as i said before, i said it in a friendly way not to create an argument, and she took it in that spirit. As for someone giving me a black eye, as you said, i would take my chances.

Wow Roy, that opened a can of worms. Seems to me that as in so much of life you have to make a judgement call.
In those circumstances I would have had a word with the Girl. If it had been a tough looking aggresive Guy then maybe not.
The fact is that the Girl would probably take it as advice - if it was given as a "watch out love you could be in trouble" sort of way. A Guy would more than likely take it as critical. If I was able to I would hope I would say something. At the end of the day it could save a life.

As regards the speeding issue. I do not know anyone who rides or drives absolutely within the speed limit all the time.
While its true that the limit is the limit sometimes its plainly over cautious. We all know over limited roads. I try to be respectful and think it could be my street or family etc. and if your keeping up with the observation then you shouldn't get caught by the Police or circumstances. On balance I say well done Roy.

The reason iam so adamant about speed limits is: all of my working life i needed a licence,as i always had either a company car or van. When i worked for British gas a lot of my time was spent in courts giving evidence to Magistrates , I couldn't afford to be in front of these same Magistrates for motoring offences, this was in Manchester, Salford,Altrincham, Knutsford and several others.My son in law is a long distance lorry driver, again his livelihood depended on his Licence.He was more than happy to ride with me for this very reason, i would point out though that when in a 50-60mph zone i keep to these limits i rarely have to slow down for bends especially on roads i know well.I am so used to my style of riding, as is my son in law, that riding with others can be very frustrating. Iam just not used to following anyone,and breaking speed limits is something i just don't do.

I remember one of the best days in my life (except for my wedding day and birth of my kids ) I spent the day riding with a police class 1 rider around north wales and not once did we break the speed limit but we made progress all day and it was just superb.
