the look is important for me, if i dont like it then i dont want it lol.
dont like the look of the SH300, nor thte vity, PCX has the best looks IMO (apart from a t-max) and st200 has the performance but point of down sizing was to save fuel and a easy comfy ride. anything over 125cc and the road tax goes up.
I followed a PCX this morning, grey one in bermondsey area, not sure if he was pinning it all the way but seems to go well, I was fast crusing up to 50 and it stayed in front, of course if i was blasting, he'd have no chance.
only thing annoying is the quick service internals, every 2500 miles for the PCX!
I can pick a new one up for 2300 or used for around 1800.

Re: Another London biker
Welcome.
The PCX looks good. I think the only forum member with one is gn2 and I think he's well impressed.
Regarding the service intervals. I've got a mk2 Tmax, 08 reg and it's only had 1 dealer service, the very first 600 mile one.
Service labour costs can be expensive so it depends on how you see it.
Do your own basic service if you can, as and when necessary. I do regular oil and all the filter changes and keep it logged.
And for the more difficult things like belt changes, variator weights etc. get help on the forum or like me get a good pal ( Clive
)
to do stuff.
Other than that,, bite the bullet and pay.
The only major problem I had was for a recall on a faulty fuel pump. There was no argument from Yamaha about me not having service history.
They provided a new pump but I had to pay for a Yamaha dealer to fit it.
I know Suzuki may be different,, see BarryG's posts about his problem with Burgman warranty.
Not sure how Honda regard service history.
But if it was me paying £1800 on a 2nd hand scooter, I wouldn't go back to a dealer for servicing. Unless you manage to blag a free one, that is!

Re: Another London biker
Oil change every 2500 mile... Sounds about right...
My 250Xmax is every 1800 Miles / 300 Klms - no oil filter - just a guaze... 1.2Lts of Halfords Finest (i use Fully Synth 5w/40 rather than the specified Semi 10w/30) - 5 Lts = 4 Changes = 1 year!
And being a 'Gixer Boy' - ya prolly be doing the front pads quite often as well - My OE Ferodo's were lasting 2k miles
- i do new pads (EBC Kevlars) at the front every other oil change, so two sets a year rougly and the rears once a year...

Re: Another London biker
didnt know the xmax has a even quicker service interval!
yea gn2 is a member over at clubpcx
yea i'll be doing my own servicing, just hope the cost of it all doesnt equate to the current upkeep. use to do low miles but since moving house i now do roughtly 6-7k miles a year commuting.

Re: Another London biker
Welcome!
There's a great website to compare your stature on the most popular bikes/scoots. Have a glance at http://cycle-ergo.com/
Times are tight and I fully understand your quest to have a fatter wallet at the end of the month! However I feel compelled to emphasize that, if you have a full motorbike licence, you might regret buying a 125cc Scoot. How much time would pass before you'd happily pay the EXTRA £1(?) per week fuel and £20 per year ROAD TAX for the extra whoopees you do get from a larger engined scoot? Just take gn2 as an example, search his posts - yeah he's saving money - but the only pleasure he seems to have now is putting the fun in dysfunctional!

Re: Another London biker
point taking, tbh i too am worried about the lack of omph!
apart from the ST200 what other options are there? I will have time before i commit and buy one.
the s-wing was very comfy but its bit bulky, xmax sport is out of budget, dont like the look of vespas.
PS: yes i have a full licence

Re: Another London biker
I had a PCX and for a budget scooter it was great and very economical.
