It would all depend on how you answered their questions if you got pulled, if you admitted that you bought it to look like a police officer you'll be in a world of sh*t. Isn't it a good job that your personal opinion can't convict someone.... In order to be convicted for impersonating a police officer the court would have to be convinced beyond all reasonable doubt that you had intended to pass yourself off as one, so unless you admitted that you were trying to look like an officer there is very little chance of you being convicted. Whoever heard of a Polite officer anyway and the blue checkered colour so what? s.90 of the Police Act 1996 requires that you 1 intend to deceive or 2 are wearing police uniform, whilst they are admittedly similar so are any number of hi viz jackets. In this case it appears that this is a strict liability offence and therefore also worth remembering is if you WERE aware that you may be mistaken for a police officer it would only be for a period while the other road user paid more attention and therefore improving your safety. It is quite clear that the word is POLITE. The only benefits being drawn are to road safety. Just look at the other items they sell, that cyclist is kitted out almost exactly like the Police cyclists you seen patrolling round York, and the horse rider looks remarkably like a mounted rider doing crowd control duty.
