According to Nightingales on the 22 September they said that the new Joymax\GTS300i was imminent?

'Hi. The new Joymax 300 is due out in the UK in around 3-4 weeks from now. Current price on the GTS300 is £3899 O.T.R. If you are interested in one of those, I may be able to offer one at a discounted price (approx. £200 off). Thanks. Gavin.'

here next year. Spec wise it's pretty similar to the Downtown and unlike the current GTS
EVO 300 it'll have 29hp instead of 23.5hp.

It'll probably be my next scooter.

That sounds like an interesting machine..
Sure does, heres a link to a promotional video with specs for it...

Thank you for that looks ace! :D

What I can't fathom, is why if someone expresses interest in a specific model, they don't offer to supply one anyway, even if it's not normally sold in that market.
This may actually lead to enough interest to make it worth stocking in a larger scale. React to demand and interest rather than deflecting it.
The red tape is minimal as it's pretty much the same type approval required across most of Europe and USA, so unlike cars with LH or RH drive/lighting etc to adapt a bike should be pretty easy.
There are at least three or four people who would like to own an X10 500 but cannot get one in the UK yet the exact same bike is sold in France. To make a few available by direct sales would possibly stimulate enough interest to be worth allowing a few main dealers the option of stocking them. Trying to push the 350 as an alternative doesn't work.

Now there's a statement I whole heartedly agree with.
My avatar is a red Honda NC700s which is unavailable in the UK, but sold in the likes of NZ and Aus. To me it looks beautiful and if it had been available that would have been my first choice. I was in my local Honda dealer today and I mentioned the red S NC700 and the chap said, "Would you believe we've already asked Honda about the chances of importing the NC700s in red and they said No."
If they produce the bike in that colour, why can't I have one?

Well, there isn't much stopping anyone buying one in France and importing it to the UK........

The trouble is you will more than likely have to obtain your spares from abroad as well, as Kymco's UK importer won't get them for you.

Out of curiosity, what exactly is involved with importing a new scoot from abroad. Do I have to pay any import/export duty (in the supposed free trade area  ) and what about things like headlamps which will be the wrong setup for the UK? What about the warranty, would the manufacturer be obliged to provide warranty work in this country or would one have to traipse back to the country of origin?

What about a second hand scoot? Are the rules different as I have friends/family that could buy abroad and then sell to me in six months if it makes the rules easier? Or even leave it registered in its home country (though presumably that could make insurance tricky?)

From when I bought a Peugeot 206 in Belgium, it wasn't hard. No import duties - You didn't pay the foreign dealer their equivalent of VAT, but you had to pay UK VAT once you'd brought it back. They gave you a Certiifcate of Conformity which you took to DVLA to register it. The only difference was that the Peugeot was a UK spec car, despite being bought in Belgium, which wouldn't be a possibility with a non imported model (X10 500). If it was a EU spec scoot, you may have to go through a detailed super MOT thing. Dunno.
Warranty...in theory, your EU warranty should be valid anywhere including the UK, but it can be a hassle. In the Peugeot's case, the manufacturers warranty was for 1 year, so valid in UK, but the subsequent year or years available to UK owners was supplied by the importer, so no deal. I bought an Aprilia Leonardo which was a German import, and Aprilia UK basically told me to get stuffed, and claim warranty work from Aprilia Germany.....
