It will snow tomorrow and I'd advise using other forms of transport especially in the West Midlands and Wales.

The difference between this and the last snow is that air and ground temperatures are now a lot lower.

I have some Keis inner gloves and I wear them with summer gloves as i do not like bulky gloves. At -2c my habds were still warm.

I am lucky enough to have the factory heated grips and hand guards on the 400z abs. This combination really works, but I find wearing a slightly THINNER!! glove keeps my hands warmer on freezing days as I can get more heat much more quickly into my palms and fingers. It's good!

Whaddaya mean?? This snow means it actually gets WARMER in the NE! It was 'only' -3C last night and actually got to 1C today - this is several degrees warmer than earlier in the week. Despite the snow, it is forecast to reach a tropical +2C over the weekend!!!

This gives me an opportunity to rant about Soft Southerners who panic if the temperature drops below 10C!!! (btw I was originally an Essex boy....a long time ago)

Pah, I was out today in the snow, the council here has done a good job on the main roads, the main concern is the total fuck-wits who drive the same whatever the conditions and the smaller roads with no grit.

My workplace however had the good fortune to have a panic attack and send everyone home early. Happy days :D

Now this (in a rather roundabout way) reminds me of something that happened this week. Now, I definitely have the speed 'gene' and am rather noted for my desire to make as rapid progress as possible in any vehicle. However, on Tuesday, it was quite snowy here, and some of the estate roads were snow covered, whilst more major roads were OK but slushy. Given the snow cover, I took the car rather than the scoot. However, given my normal speed crazed behaviour, I was rather perturbed to find myself attracting a queue of other cars behind me, obviously wanting to go faster, wherever I went! I was doing around 20 on entirely snow covered roads, rising to 40 on a slush covered dual carriageway (50 limit), where following drivers blasted past me like the roads were in perfect condition! I clearly slow down a lot more than other people in dodgy weather conditions. Is this something to do with riding a PTW most of the time, when you are rather more cautious about poor road conditions liable to be lacking grip at any moment? Or am i just getting old fogeyish???
