That's because your self-reference point is different to the bike industry's. And to be honest, most of ours too. It would seem that lots of us like a certain type of vibration. I know that the uneven beat of the BMW's parrallel twin is much nicer than the drone of the Yamaha's, in my opinion. You're welcome to yours too, but please stop trying to ram your opinions down everyone else's throat.gn2 wrote: Such a shame that the bike industry doesn't deem it a priority.

Merely expresing my view and participating in a discussion.
Just because my view may be a minority one doesn't make it any less valid or give me any less right to express it.
I thought the point of development was to drive things forward?
Well if people apathetically accept shoddy design such as the NC range, we're never going to get anywhere.
If you don't like my opinions or posts, just ban me and be done with it.

Worse than that....the actively design it in! Obviously lots of the market seem to want to pretend to ride Harleys...gn2 wrote:Not sure if there's an industry standard scale, but the car industry puts lots of effort into eliminating NVH.

Now I have to take umbrage with THAT.MrGrumpy wrote:Worse than that....the actively design it in! Obviously lots of the market seem to want to pretend to ride Harleys...gn2 wrote:Not sure if there's an industry standard scale, but the car industry puts lots of effort into eliminating NVH.

I have a "friend" with a Harley and that really does vibrate like nothing else, to compare that to an NC or BMW is a dire insult!

Re: cheap integra
I would agree that most of us want NVH removed from our cars, but somehow most of us feel different about motorcycles. I didn't use the word scooter here, because people who ride scooters are different again. I seem to remember that in one test of the BMW and TMAX the tester commented that some people would like the TMAX better because it had a rising scooter-style drone to its engine note, whereas the BMW had a more bike-like throb. I have ridden a Mana and hated its V-twin vibeyness, yet I like the slight warble the BMW puts out. Despite the slight vibeyness at idle described by Mr Grumpy, it does become lovely and smooth very soon afterwards. A couple of friends have bought NC700s and both love the engine - they're both scooterists, one came off a Vespa 300 the other off a GP800.
Where Honda went desperately wrong with the Integra is not the engine/transmission but the obscene lack of storage and that chain drive. I'm sure it's lovely to ride in fact in the comparison tests I've read in the euro scooter press, it has done pretty well.

Re: cheap integra
OK I take your point...but obviously some people think they want a 'real' motorcycle with 'character' - in other words vibes, but they don't want the full on Harley experience, but want a sanitised version instead! Which is where the NC or C600 / TDM come in...poldark wrote:

I agree with that, like them or not , vibes give certain bikes character in different measures. Id never buy a big single or a twin and expect a vibe free ride.
